In making class assignments, our goal is to place each child in a class where he or she can be most successful. A secondary goal is to also maintain a balance among classes in terms of gender, academic ability, disciplinary and social needs, learning styles, and individual needs of all of the students. All information shared on our input form is confidential and submitted electronically to West Cypress Hills Elementary administration.

We hope to make classroom assignments that will maximize the opportunity for your child’s success. If you have information you would like to have considered in your child’s placement, please complete and submit this form no later than May 3, 2024. Please limit your input to the way your child learns and to information about any special needs that we should consider.

Staffing and staff assignments for next year have not been finalized; thus, we will not be able to honor requests for a specific teacher. We will do our best to honor your feedback.

Please keep our Tigers safe! Please keep our Tigers safe!

Please drop off only at our designated, safe locations. Please drop off only at our designated, safe locations.

We recently had a few parents reach out to us because of their concern for students being dropped off on Sabino instead of being dropped off at our front or side designated car drop-off locations. Fortunately, the students made it to school safely, but one of them was almost hit by a passing car.

It's well worth taking the extra minutes to drop students off safely at the main front entrance or the side entrance where we have our Tiger Safety Patrol and staff members available to see students safely into the building. Our car lines move very quickly. Please, drop off students only in our designated drop-off locations in the mornings. Thank you for your cooperation.

One Community, One School, One Book

On Monday, April 8, our school embarked on a special project: an all-school book club called One Community, One School, One Book. Every family was provided a copy of Applebossom the Possum by Holly Goldberg Sloan. Students were provided their copy of the book during library classes the first week of April. Families are invited to read the book together at home during this program.

Please click this link to view the reading calendar and to learn more. Happy Reading!

Have a super interesting career?

If so, we hope you are willing to be a guest speaker for WCHE's Career Day on Thursday, May 9! We would be honored for you to share your expertise and excitement about your career with our students! By introducing our Tigers to a broad range of career possibilities, we hope to ignite new interests as they consider their future careers.

We are looking for parents or community members who would be willing to speak to classes of students about their jobs, when they first knew that they wanted to pursue this career, what was required to get them in that position (education,) how their job relates to their interests now, the most rewarding part of their job, and the most difficult part of their job. They will also have an opportunity to "show and tell" with props, photos, video clips, or demonstrations. Finally, they will be able to answer student questions.

Speakers will present to a particular grade level on Thursday, May 9, and they will present 4-5 sessions approximately 20 - 25 min each. Speakers will be selected by our Social Emotional Learning Team with the goal of representing a variety of career fields. If we have multiple volunteer speakers from similar career fields, speakers will be selected randomly.

To sign up, please phone Dustin Boren @ 512.533.7589. Thanks!
