"Mr. Rice is the perfect blend of humanity, high standards and humor--in other words, he's an amazing teacher and resource for our students and staff :)"

"Sometimes a day isn't going so well and then here comes Margie Moore with a hug, a kind word, and encouragement. Her positivity and gentleness gives me the strength (and reframe) I need in every state of mind: good, bad, and the ugly. I am so grateful for her!"

We want to give a BIG shout out to our three students of the week and our staff member of the week!
In the month of October our behavior focus is being RESPONSIBLE. Therefore, these students were selected by a staff member because they are so responsible.
Our 6th grade student of the week is Aaliyah Chatmon selected by Mrs. Akerley.
Our 7th grade student of the week is Harper Talaga selected by Mr. Dennis.
And our 8th grade student of the week is Skyleigh Casteels selected by Mr. Cabble.
Each one of the students was allowed to choose a staff member here at FMS that best displays the behavior focus of the month. The three staff members selected were…
Mrs. Gach, selected by Aaliyah
Mrs.Tackett selected by Harper
Mrs. Smith selected by Skyleigh
We put all three names in a drawing and pulled the winning staff member’s name for the week. This week’s staff member of the week is……MRS. SMITH!
Congratulations to all of the students of the week and the staff member of the week! The spotlight will be on you all this week on WFMS and around FMS!
6th Grader Aaliyah Chatmon
7th Grader Harper Talaga
8th Grader Skyleigh Casteels
ANNOUNCEMENTS
We Wish Jill Well; Welcome Emily!
As we wish Jill LeMond a wonderful and fabulous time at Stevenson, please welcome Emily Johnson into Jill's previous role. Emily comes to us from Wayne Memorial and we are excited to have her! Please find time to come introduce yourself (or say hello again!) to Emily in the main office.
Use of Gyms During School Day
Franklin Team,
A friendly reminder that the extra gym may be available at times for you to use with your students. Outside of Adaptive PE, no other PE classes are regularly scheduled in that gym each day. Please check availability before bringing your students in.
When using the space, please make sure students clean up after themselves and leave it ready for the next group. During sports seasons, messes left behind create additional work for our night custodial crew as they prepare the gym for athletics.
I’ve included a photo as an example of what we need to avoid. Our night crew is wonderful to us, and making sure trash is picked up and equipment is returned is a simple way to show our appreciation.
As athletic director, I want to keep the space available when schedules allow. If cleanup becomes an ongoing concern, we will need to restrict use of the gym and other athletic spaces.
Thank you for helping our students care for our school and respect the people who keep it running!
Passes During Lunch
Please make sure that if a student is visiting you for lunch that a Smart Pass has been filled out so that those supervising lunch are aware and we ensure that there are not students wandering the halls unsupervised during lunch. Thank you!
Attendance Codes
Teachers, please see below as a reminder for attendance. Please remember to be diligent in entering attendance every day, every hour. Parents are receiving notifications via Dojo when an absence or tardy occurs, so you must make sure your attendance is accurate within the first ten minutes of each class.
No Food or Drink Outside Cafeteria Reminder
Breakfast and lunch staff, please help our custodians out by ensuring students do not take any food or drink out of the cafeteria (besides water).
Evaluations - What To Do
All teachers are expected to complete a Growth Plan, and the Self-Assessment is required only for those being evaluated. Please check your email for an email from Sarah Jayne (sent 9/30 or 10/1) to see if you are being evaluated. If you cannot find the email, just ask!
To-Do:
- Complete the "Self-Assessment" in PIVOT
- Complete the Teacher Growth Plan in PIVOT, which will identify the indicators or growth targets and share with your administrator.
- You will meet with your evaluating administrator to go over your Growth Plan and determine goals and areas of support before your first observation (please schedule a time with Corinne either on your planning period or after school).
- You will be formally observed in your classroom twice this year:
- Announced observation (you'll know ahead of time)
-Unannounced (Sarah Jayne will pop in)
First Year Teachers
- In addition to everything above, you will also have a Mid-Year Progress Report. This will be initiated by your evaluating administrator and will take place before your second observation.

Contacting Home for Cell Phone Violations
Thank you very much for adapting to the Franklin Cell Phone Tracker and staying diligent with it. Please remember that if you are putting a student on there, you are responsible for reaching out to the student's guardians via Dojo (at minimum) to let them know what happened, what step the student is on, and the next disciplinary step. If the phone comes to the main office, please have it labeled.
Additionally, we are working to make sure the spreadsheet is sending alerts to the behavior team and administration. We apologize that there were three students missed for consequences. Those students have since been addressed, their parents contacted, and they have received consequences. If you ever notice that consequences aren't being delivered, please reach out to us so we can take care of it. We are striving to be consistent in our discipline and working out kinks in our systems. Thank you for your patience as we work to "do better".
Birthday Broadcast 🥳
No birthdays this week! If your birthday has been missed, please let Corinne know so that it can be added to the birthday calendar.

Submit Your Smore Information to Corinne!
If you'd like something posted in the Smores, please send it to Corinne (albrechtc@wwcsd.net) by end of day Wednesday. Anything sent after that is not guaranteed to make the Smore, though of course I will try. Additionally, please make it clear you want it posted in the Smore if you are also reaching out to me for others reasons like review or a color print. I will not always remember to automatically add things unless it's clearly requested. Thank you :)
