ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOD'S GOOD PURPOSES

"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

Principal's Corner

Who Do You Think You Are?

. God’s beloved child.

. Christ’s dear friend.

1 Corinthians 15.20-22 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.

Our identity IN CHRIST is what grounds us. For if we are united to Christ, we share…

…in His death (we were baptized in His death)

…in His resurrection (we are resurrected with Christ)

…in His ascension (we have been raised with Him)

…in His heavenly home

…in His promised return.

IN CHRIST, each of us is special, unique, and loved in a way that the world does not understand. April monthly tip #1 – continually THINK these truths with ‘I am…’ statements’; tip #2 – prayerfully HEAR Jesus personalize these truths to you ‘Paul, you are…’; tip #3 – imaginatively ENVISION yourself embodying these truths in your daily life. Below ‘OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST’ is something I hope you willuse, share, and use daily during April and going forward. We all need to THINK, HEAR, and ENVISION this for us, as do our children.

GARDEN GARDEN

open_in_new zoom_out_map

Dear Parents,

The RHLS Learning Garden is a curriculum based, multi-sensory, hands-on experience designed to enrich the student's knowledge and appreciation of God's creation. Garden curriculum supports what is taught in the classroom. For example, 4th graders learn about California, so they plant a California Agriculture garden and learn by touch, sight, smell and taste. What a way to reinforce the lesson content in the garden and in their classroom!!!

There is a Fall garden and a Spring garden. Both have planting and harvest visits. You can sign up for 1 or more teachers (use the TABS at the top of the page to sign up for other grades). It is very helpful if you sign up for all 4 visits for a teacher for continuity since each visit is based on what was taught and experienced during prior visits. However, if that is not possible, please sign up for what you can as we are grateful for any time you can commit to!

We also encourage grandparents or other relatives to participate. It's a great way to have a wonderful experience with your child or grandchild (the kids are so proud when their parent, grandparent, etc. are at the visit with them!).

You will receive 1 volunteer hour for every visit you attend. Since we get so many wonderful volunteers this year, we are asking for 1 volunteer from each class to LEAD the lesson; please don't let this hinder your willingness to volunteer. "LEADING" might mean reading a book or guiding students to plant or telling them about the craft or how to observe the garden and fill out their worksheet - guided instructions are provided in advance so please do not be intimidated - this is an easy roll and allows our garden leaders the chance to help kids and answer questions on a more individual basis. Plus, the kids love to see their parents’ involvement! If you are interested, please add in the comments that you are willing to lead.

Garden Preparation/Clean Out Days are not student visit days but typically on a weekend or afterschool where we need to clean out the garden to ready it for a new season of planting or where we need to make sure the garden looks spic and span for Open House. These are great opportunities for working parents to volunteer outside of the work day and usually go pretty quickly if we have lots of help! You will receive service hours for every hour you work.

Garden Maintenance Days are times between planting and harvest where we just need some extra help maintaining the garden, mostly pulling weeds, ensuring garden is clean, etc. These can be done in your own time (within the week noted) and will receive 1 hour of volunteer time for each time slot.

SCHOOL SAFETY SCHOOL SAFETY

Hello there!

Thank you for subscribing to our "Download" newsletter. I've received great feedback from parents about how the information we share in the Download helps them feel informed and confident. I love that. Please share it with anyone!

This is a quick "non-Download" message, and I have two things:

  1. I need help in a focus group. We're exploring an idea for families and I need your input! If you want to learn more, please go here.
  2. I wrote a deeply personal post about sin, social media, and The Anxious Generation. I'd love your thoughts. If you want to read it, please go here.

Note: I know not all PYE followers are Christians but I think even non-Christians might find it interesting. #delayistheway!

We hope you will join us for this wonderful volunteer opportunity. Please sign-up using this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0E4EADA823A6FC1-55704791-class

If you are unfamiliar with the Class Act Program and would like to learn more, please contact Liz Latch (lizschen@gmail.com) and she will happily share information about this amazing program. In a nutshell, your K-8 child has been attending lessons with a professional musician from the Pacific Symphony. Our musician this year, Cheryl Gates, plays the viola and has been teaching the students about the “Revolutionary” music of Beethoven.

RED HILL LUTHERAN CHURCH NEWS RED HILL LUTHERAN CHURCH NEWS

Dear Red Hill Lutheran School Families,

I hope you are having a blessed Lenten season and are ready for some beautiful spring days!

As we near the end of Lent, and approach the sacred days of Holy Week and Easter, if you do not have a church home, I invite you to worship with us, both in person or via our livestream. Join us this upcoming Holy Week and Easter on…:

  • Sunday, April 13th , Palm Sunday. One service at 10:15 a.m. followed by “Springfest,” with a

pancake breakfast, Easter egg hunts, pony rides, face painting, games and much, much more! Invite

your family and friends!

  • Thursday, April 17th , Maundy (Holy) Thursday worship at 12:00 noon and 7:00 p.m.
  • Good Friday April 18th , worship at 12:00 noon and 7:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 20th , Easter Sunday worship at 8:00 a.m. (Classical); and 10:15 a.m.(Contemporary). Holy Communion celebrated at both services.

On Sunday, April 27th , we begin a new message series entitled, “What’s Next? What the Bible Teaches About the Afterlife.” When it comes to the subject of the afterlife, questions, and assumptions abound! If you were to ask people if they believe in life after death, many would affirm a belief in Heaven, but fewer would affirm the reality of Hell. It seems that belief in future, eternal bliss is much easier to believe (hope for?) than eternal punishment and suffering.

A related question often asked is: What exactly happens after we die? Do we go immediately to Heaven or Hell, or is there an intermediate “place” or “state” until “judgment day” and the return of Jesus?

This series will address these and other questions about the afterlife, and will examine the Biblical descriptions concerning the reality, nature, and promise of the afterlife; what is referred to as Heaven and Hell. Additional questions addressed through this series will be:

  • The common views of death and the afterlife. How does Christianity’s understanding differ

from some of the “secular” views of the afterlife? What about Islam and/or other religions?

  • Why were Heaven and Hell created?
  • Is Hell eternal, conscious, existence (a person knows they are in Hell) or is Hell eternal death

(non-existence)?

  • Do people in heaven “see” us on earth? Are there rewards in Heaven?

The goals of this series are to deepen our understanding of what the Bible teaches about Heaven and Hell, and to encourage disciples of Jesus to live with a daily trust and hope in Jesus, who has promised real life now, and real life, after life after death!

As always, if there is anything we can be praying for, or if you have any questions about the church, the Bible, or the Christian faith, please do not hesitate to call upon us!

Until I see you, may you have a wonderful and blessed Easter! Thanks for being a part of our school

community!

Gratefully in Christ,

Pastor Seth

Our Nursery and Preschool Ministry offers a nurturing environment where Christ’s littlest disciples can play, learn about Jesus, sing praises to God, and get excited about joining the community of believers in worship as they grow. Through Sunday morning programming and Connection Events, we strive to partner well with families as they teach their Tiny Ones to Trust the Savior! T.O.T.S.

Children, ages six weeks to five years old are welcome to join us in Classroom 11 on Sunday mornings during both worship services and during our DiscipleU Educational hour.

T.O.T.S Ministry March Teaching Series

A Teaching Series from Epiphany to Easter

T.O.T.S. Ministry is exploring stories of Jesus' life on Sunday mornings. We are following the miracles and teachings of Christ that bloomed along His path to the cross. Using the Lenten Resources provided by our Youth & Family Ministry (YFM) Team, we invite our T.O.T.S. families to join the fun at home as we decorate a blossoming Jesus Tree with ornaments showing the journey of Christ to the Tree of Life!

Palm Sunday will be a combined service at 10:15am with an all family Springfest Celebration to follow! On Easter Sunday, T.O.T.S. Ministry will meet at our regular worship times 8:00am and 10:15am. We hope all nursery and preschool children will be able to join us as we enjoy opening Resurrection Eggs. Biblical stories this month include the following:

  • April 6th: “Jesus Raises Lazarus”

  • April 13th: “Jesus' Triumphal Entry”

  • April 20th: “Jesus' Resurrection”

  • April 27th: “Parable of the Prodigal Son”

Using a combination of large group and small group conversations and activities, our K.I.D.S. Ministry Team intentionally strives to create an engaging environment where children, kindergarten through 5th grade, come to Know Jesus, Impact the world around them, become Disciples of Jesus, and Serve others - K.I.D.S.!

DiscipleU K.I.D.S.

During our DiscipleU Educational Hour, kids gather in a large group format where we focus on God’s Word as well as engage in related activities or crafts with our leaders.

DiscipleU K.I.D.S. Fellowship

Student Ministry March Teaching Series: Invited

A series on Easter

There's nothing like throwing a party to celebrate the people you love. Be it for a birthday, an achievement, or a new chapter of life, parties give us a reason to gather, laugh, and create new memories together. And if we really stopped to look around, we'd find so many reasons to celebrate what's happening in our lives that the parties would never stop.

In this 6-week series, we'll see what it's like when we celebrate all that God has done through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. We'll celebrate that with Jesus, everyone’s invited, and we'll celebrate who Jesus is. Then, we'll see how we're invited to remember what Jesus has done, let Jesus make us new, follow the Holy Spirit's lead, and how Jesus invites us to invite others.

If you have any questions or if you need more information, please feel free to contact Student Ministry Coordinator, Tim Rivera, at trivera@redhillchurch.org.

JUMP: YFM MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER OVERNIGHT CAMP 2025

Middle School Summer Overnight Camp is the ultimate place for your incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade student! During this 5-day camp, we'll explore how we are invited to trust God as we JUMP into our faith. This camp is an incredible opportunity for students to connect with their peers, build meaningful friendships, and most importantly, an opportunity for them to challenge themselves to grow deeper in their faith, through the teaching of God's Word, worship, and so much more!

This summer, Red Hill Lutheran Church & School is heading to a beautiful, private, gated 5-acre estate in Palm Desert! Our group will have exclusive access to two pools, a large pond with an outdoor pavilion, a regulation-size tennis court that converts into multiple pickleball courts, plus cabanas and fire pits for evening gatherings. Inside, students can enjoy a pool table, board games, and plenty of space to relax and bond. Whether they're soaking up the sun, playing sports, swimming, or unwinding with friends, this retreat offers the perfect balance of fun and intentionality for all to create lasting memories with their friends and JUMP deeper into their faith!

Registration for camp is open and spots are limited! If you have any questions or need further information, please contact the Student Ministry Coordinator, Tim Rivera, at trivera@redhillchurch.org.
