Welcome back from Thanksgiving break! We hope your family enjoyed time together, whether relaxing at home, traveling, or simply enjoying the spirit of the season. As we return to school, the excitement of the upcoming holidays is already filling our halls. This is one of our favorite times of year, and we’re looking forward to a wonderful month of learning, celebration, and connection.

Leader in Me Focus: Emotional Bank Accounts (EBAs)

Throughout December, our Leader in Me focus is on Emotional Bank Accounts, an important idea that helps students build strong, positive relationships. An Emotional Bank Account works just like a regular bank account—but instead of money, we make “deposits” and “withdrawals” through our actions and words.

What Are “Deposits”?

Deposits are positive actions that build trust and strengthen friendships. Students can make deposits by:

• Being kind and helpful

• Listening to others

• Keeping promises

• Using encouraging words

• Showing empathy and understanding

What Are “Withdrawals”?

Withdrawals are actions that may hurt trust or feelings, such as:

• Interrupting or ignoring others

• Being unkind

• Breaking promises

• Making assumptions instead of asking questions

We will be practicing ways to make more deposits than withdrawals, helping all students feel valued, respected, and connected at school.

This year the SDPC is offering virtual volunteer training opportunities where you can train on your schedule from home rather than try to attend a training session at a district school.
