• Fourth Grade Unit 4
• Fifth Grade Unit 4

While I always link it in "button-form" at the bottom of our newsletters ,I wanted to ensure everyone knew the TRS State team has released a fall newsletter. You can access these newsletters from the "News and Updates" section on TEKS Resource System.

Each month I will be highlighting a different TRS resource. I encourage you to try it out and post the implementation of it on Twitter!

What is it: Grade 1 and Grade 2 Phonological Awareness PA Checklist

How could I use it: This checklist covers phonological awareness skills introduced/reviewed in Units 1-5...so it could serve as something you could plan to implement in your classroom in the near future. This checklist bundles skills covered and could be used with select students to identify where phonological awareness skills may be lacking.

Older grades- this could serve as a valuable tool for you as well. This checklist can help identify foundational skills that may need shoring up or where a student has unfinished learning. Consider completing it to identify exactly where support is needed. Even though it may not be your grade level, all teachers have access to every grade level in TRS. Check it out!

Did you use the Phonics Scope and Sequence from last month's Smore? If so, tweet it out and share your reflections!

During this session, RLA teachers planning with TRS from across the Region will come together to plan for their next unit. During the first part of our day, participants will go through TRS documents and identify how to utilize them in the planning process, work on unpacking performance assessments, and explore how ITRS can help us include these in our instructional units. During the second part of our day, participants will begin planning out daily instruction!

What should writing look like in my classroom? What are instructional best practices I can implement alongside my PAs? Come explore all this and more as we find out how interactive read-alouds, mentor texts, and an understanding of the developmental stages of writing can set our young authors up for success!
