A NOTE FROM MRS. B
Howdy Bronco Family! The regular football season is winding down, and basketball is right around the corner. That means Thanksgiving and Christmas aren’t that far off…YIKES! But, we have a lot of the fall semester ahead of us before that.
Mornings are pretty chilly, but in typical West Texas fashion, the afternoons end up warm. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for our ever-changing weather. I also wanted send out a friendly reminder the last day for elementary students are allowed to wear shorts to school is Friday, November 1st. Beginning, Tuesday, November 5th, if your child comes to school wearing shorts, someone will be contacted to bring pants. Thank you for your help with this!
Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.
Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.
It’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!

- New AR goals started last week for the second quarter.
- Please read for 20 minutes each night.
- Please send the AR books back each day. Students need to listen to you as you read their AR books. They also need to practice answering those comprehension questions such as who, what, where, when and why.

MRS. BAYER - 4TH GRADE
This post is going to be mostly about UIL. I am sponsoring several events, and I want to make sure both parents and students have the information. Parents, please make sure your child is practicing at home. We try to work on things at school, but there just isn't the amount of time they need to be really successful.
Oral Reading 4 & 5
We had a preliminary tryout a couple of weeks ago. Those moving on to the next round all have the poem they need to be working on. We will have the final tryout Nov. 4th. This will determine the 3 competitors and the alternate for each grade. Right now, the best thing for the kids to do is just read it out loud as much as possible over the next few days. There are a lot of words that they have to get comfortable saying. Encourage them to start thinking about the different characters and how they can be best portrayed. Have the students read to themselves, out loud, in front of a mirror. This will help them work on eye contact and being comfortable with what they look like when they are creating characters. To really be successful, the students need to read their poems at least 3-5 times every night.
Spelling 4 & 5
4th Grade Team: Kane Garcia, Hannah Houchin, Lucian Rocha, Thatcher Furgeson
5th Grade Team: Ava Barnes, Natalia Contreras, Nadia Flores, Adi Loera, Cyrus Garcia
These students have been given the list of words, and login information for them to practice online. Please encourage them to get on each night and take a couple of tests. We will have a test October 29 to determine the 3 competitors and alternate for each grade.
Music Memory 2, 3,4, & 5
There are several students in each class that are working to be on our Music Memory Teams. I have given them a folder with the songs, and some listening maps to help them navigate through piece and stay focused for the entire song. We will meet on Thursday during dinner to make sure the kids are on the right track for a final test on October 29 to determine the 3 competitors and alternates for each grade. Only the first 5 selections on the list will be tested. The students should look up the song on YouTube, follow the maps, and practice writing the composer, major work, and selection. I am working to have a recording to send home with the final team members with all of the songs.
Ready Writing 4 & 5
4th Grade Team: Charlee Carroll, Hannah Houchin, Regina Martinez
5th Grade Team: Ava Barnes, Natalia Contreras, Adi Loera, Nadia Flores
The students have a checklist and sample ready writing examples. They need to read the examples and try to find everything on the checklist. This is to help them remember all the things the judges are looking for. Hopefully, that will help them remember to include those things in their essays. Using the prompts provided, write their own essays and work to include all the things in the checklist. 5th Grade will have to turn in an essay to me by October 29, and I will determine the 3 competitors and alternate from that essay.
Listening Skills 5
Team: Nadia Flores, Ka'relli Tarango, J Bustillos, Caiden Kennimer
The students will listen to a story, and then then answer questions about it. A good way to practice this at home is to read them anything and just ask them some questions about it.
Dictionary Skills 5
Team: J Bustillos, Caiden Kennimer, Cyrus Garcia, Natalia Contreras
These students have been given a sample test, and they are working their way through it. The final 3 competitors and alternate will be determined Oct 29.
MS. GAMEZ -5TH GRADE
4th & 5th Grade Math
-In 4th grade, we are learning long division. This is where it is going to be a long process if we do not know our multiplication math facts because they will not know what numbers to divide with. I will have students who get to a problem with a divisor of six and write down all the math facts for six on the side of their paper and others will shut down and write down whatever answer. Please, have your child practice multiplication math facts, a few minutes every night. We will keep doing the same thing in 5th grade, but it will be a little harder. Instead, of dividing with a one-digit divisor, they will be dividing with a two-digit divisor. It does not go away.
-In 5th grade, we are multiplying up to 3-digit by 2-digit numbers with decimals. It has not been too bad these 5th graders love to multiply. They don’t know it yet but soon we will go back to long division with a 2-digit divisor but this time with decimals. They hate to divided so I know I will have some unhappy campers.
-Thank you for your support. Stacy Gamez
No desaparece.
MRS. GUZMAN - 5TH GRADE
4th Science:
We have continued on with energy and spent a lot of time determining the difference between each energy transformation.
5th Science:
We are still working in circuits and how to check if they are open or closed. They have really worked on checking all the parts of a circuit and getting the correct answer.
Caitlyn Guzman
4ta Ciencia:
