Counseling Corner - From Mrs. Warfield and Mrs. Jenkins Counseling Corner - From Mrs. Warfield and Mrs. Jenkins

Last week, we wrapped up our child abuse prevention lessons. It’s essential that every child learns that it’s okay to have physical boundaries. It’s equally as important that you let them know how to protect themselves, and communicate any discomfort they are feeling. Please see below for an infographic to help you continue this important conversation at home.

Art in Grade 1

In 1st grade, we have been working hard on creating underwater collages. Students have been encouraged to use their imaginations and create colorful sea creatures and underwater seascapes using a variety of mixed materials.

Music in Grade 1

1st graders went on a “world tour” with Pete the Cat! Each page of the book Pete the Cat’s World Tour took Pete & his band to a new country around the world – we learned about these countries over several classes and listened to music from each place. The students got to pretend to be airplane passengers going on tour with Pete the Cat!

Library in Grade 1

All library classes celebrated National Library Week, recognizing all the great things that are part of libraries! First graders were also excited to get the option to check out part of the graphic novel section. We reviewed that it is okay to bring back a book if it doesn’t feel like a good fit for you.

BES Staff Favorite Things

A list has been complied of the Blacklick staff's favorite things. It is important to understand the teachers are not asking for gifts. We know that many parents might want to get their child's teacher a gift and this list is to help you select something the teacher would like. Please do not feel obligated to buy a gift for your child's teachers/staff members. A thoughtful note from you and/or your child at any time of the year is appreciated just as much or more as any gift.
