Henry Happenings
September 27, 2026
Principal Message
Dear Henry Families,
First, thank you for all of our families that attended our annual Bingo Night on Friday evening. We loved seeing everyone having fun and enjoying time together!
Next, it’s time for the Henry Hustle Fun Run! Our Henry PTO has been hard at work planning this fun fall fundraiser, and we are excited to see our school community come together! We will also have a spirit week leading up to the Fun Run. See the flyer below!
By uing FundHub as the sharing platform, 95–97% of the funds raised will stay right here at Henry. Some of the PTO plans for the money raised are to support improvements to our school grounds, including new front-of-school benches, enhancements to our outdoor learning area, and building funds toward a future sun shade for our upcoming new playground.
Students will celebrate their hard work with the Henry Hustle Fun Run on October 9, when they will run with their buddy classes!
A special reminder to our families: Be sure to scroll all the way down in each Henry Happenings newsletter to read the PTO section! Our PTO has lots of exciting events, fundraisers, and opportunities for families to be involved throughout the year. We don’t want you to miss out!
Thank you for supporting our Henry students and helping make our school an even more welcoming and engaging place to learn! 🐾

Prop P Community Webinar
The cost of operating schools is rising faster than funding, creating a projected $75 million shortfall over the next 10 years. Prop P on the November 3 ballot would provide stable funding for Parkway teachers, classrooms, safety, and student support.
Join Superintendent Dr. Melissa Schneider and Chief Financial Officer Carrie Nunn for a Parkway Community Webinar to learn about Proposition P: why it’s on the ballot, and what passage or failure would mean for Parkway schools and our community.
When: Wednesday, October 7 at 7 p.m.
Livestream the webinar at www.parkwayschools.net. Can’t make it live? A recording of the presentation will be available.
Get the facts about Prop P at www.parkwayschools.net/Prop-P
What would Proposition P support in Parkway schools?
Attracting and retaining teachers and staff
Safety and security
Classroom resources
Student programs and services
Long-term financial stability
Did you know that before placing Proposition P on the November ballot, Parkway reduced spending by $15.4 million?
The reductions impacted every school and department budget, professional development expenses, and other operating costs. Further reductions would increasingly impact students, teachers, programs, and services. and classrooms.

From Our English Language Teachers (Mrs. Howard and Mrs. Lois)
Dear Henry Families,
Our EL team is creating a vibrant community display to welcome every single student and family into our school. To make sure all languages, scripts, and characters are captured accurately and authentically, we need your help!
We are inviting Henry families to sign up for a quick visit to write "Hello" in your native language on our window that overlooks our school courtyard.
How to Get Involved:
What: Visit Henry to write "Hello" in your native language.
Who: We are looking for one representative per language to ensure our display represents the full diversity of our community.
When: Time slots are available starting on September 8-11 from 9:30am - 3:00pm
Having our parents physically contribute to this project brings authentic representation into our halls while building a stronger connection between home and school.
Ready to represent your language and help us build a more inclusive environment?

Thank you for your continued support, partnership, and for making the Henry community such a special place for our kids!
Warmly,
The Henry EL Team

Staff Bulldog Brag
Did you know that families can recognize staff members with Bulldog Brags, just like we do for students? If you or your child notice a staff member demonstrating one of our Henry Core Values—Kind, Responsible, Persevere, or Inclusive—we invite you to share it using the button below.
Each staff member who receives a Bulldog Brag will be honored with a certificate and a special surprise. As part of our character education, it is important for students to see adults modeling these values every day—and to hear real examples of what they look like in action!
PTO Updates
PTO Families,
It's time for the Henry Hustle Fun Run! A flyer was sent home with students on Friday and we wanted to share a quick reminder about why this fundraiser is so exciting for our school. PTO is running this event and using FundHub as our sharing platform, which means that 95-97% of funds raised will stay at Henry.
The Henry Hustle will directly support improvements to our school grounds, including:
Adding benches to the front of the school
Adding to our existing outdoor learning area
Building funds toward a sun shade for our future playground
We are excited to make these spaces more welcoming, functional, and enjoyable for our students and families. Every donation and every bit of participation helps us move these projects forward! This fundraiser will conclude with a fun run for all students to run with their buddy class, October 9.
Thank you for participating and helping make our fall fundraiser a success. We can’t wait to see our Henry community come together!
With gratitude,
Henry PTO

JUNIOR LONGHORN GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS 2026-2027 (5th-8th Grade)
Junior Longhorn basketball teams are committed to providing excellent instruction in a fun and competitive environment. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for our athletes to play with others who plan to attend Parkway West High School, while improving their fundamentals and teamwork. We are committed to teaching offensive and defensive concepts that are used at the high school level. Teams will compete in the competitive CNR League and the Park/Rock League, and may also participate in tournaments. All of this depends on the commitment level of each team. Teams will practice 1-2 times per week (depending on team).
TRYOUTS DATES AND TIMES: All tryouts will be held at Parkway West High School Main Gym
5th Grade: Sunday, September 27th (3:30-5pm)
6th Grade: Sunday, September 27th (5-6:30pm)
7th Grade: Sunday, September 27th (6:30-8pm)
8th Grade: Sunday, August 23rd (7-8:15 pm)
Please bring a basketball and a water bottle.
Please fill out the QR code below to register for tryouts. Please email Brett Katz bkatz@parkwayschool.net (Head Basketball Coach at Parkway West), or Neil Adams (Head of Jr. Longhorn Basketball program) Neil.Adams@raymondjames.com, with any questions. Parkway West HS staff will be placing the girls on the respective teams for all grade levels. Some grade levels will have multiple teams, with the top 8-10 players at each age playing on the Red Team, and the next 8-10 players will play on the Blue Team. Kids grow and develop skills at different rates, so teams may look different each year. If interested in coaching, please make sure to indicate on the registration form.
