Count down to the 2022-23 School Year!
We are a few short days away from the beginning of the school year and our staff has been on campus working hard to prepare!
The first day of school is almost here, Wednesday, August 10, and in this message you will find a couple short videos from me and Mr. Osborne with some important updates for the beginning of the school year. Please make sure to read all the way to the bottom, as our counseling team has added some important information on schedule.
We are welcoming a large group of new group of Grizzly staff, so below I will list them, including some of the details on our new admin team members for those of you that have not been introduced to us all yet.
As you may know we have a new website this school you. We are still in the process of making the full transition, so there are links that are not working and some pages are not updated yet. Thank you for your patience as we rebuild our site. Our website will continue to be the place to go to get your most up to date information on all things California High School. Thank you for your support as we get back to where we need to be.
Enjoy the last few days of summer break!
Respectfully,
Mr. Ball

Welcoming New Grizzlies
Welcoming In New Grizzlies (WING Day)
WING is a way for incoming 9th graders to connect with other students, become familiar with Cal High's campus, and get any and all questions answered before the start of the school year! At WING, students will meet Admin and the Leadership teachers and students, build community in small groups, get locker info, and an insider tour of our campus. After WING, there will be festivities in the quad! Students are free to stay after their campus tours! This event will be held on Monday, August 8th @ 10AM - 12:30PM. Additionally, feel free to bring water and snacks for yourself!
New Student Open House
Sophomore and Transfer Students Open House will familiarize students with the CHS campus by providing tours and answers to questions to support students coming back to Cal High. This event will be held after WING on Monday, August 8th from 12PM - 1:30PM. Students may arrive at any time between 12-1:30PM for games, campus tours, and questions for our student leaders. Additionally, feel free to bring water and snacks for yourself!
Bear Facts
The first addition of this year's Bear Facts, our official newsletter, the trusted source for information from school admin, PTSA, boosters, clubs and students, will be published Monday, August 8th.

Bell Schedules and Calendar
Several emails were sent out at the end of last school year regarding the new bell schedules for California High School. Our start time every day is 8:30am. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, dismissal for students without a B period is 2:35 pm. While students with B Period, the school day ends at 3:41 pm. On Wednesday we have an early release day. Our dismissal at the end of 5/6th period is 2:05 pm, and there is no B period.
You will notice that we have "Support" listed before lunch on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. This time will be incredibly useful for us to address both academic and social/emotional learning. Students are responsible for signing up to get the support they need.
Students with after school activities and no B Period
School Counselors Update
Student Scheduling Information
- Schedules will be released on Monday, September 8th!
- The schedule is very full and due to the limitations in the master schedule and space availability, many changes may not be possible. Specifically, there are few offerings available during B/7th period and students must have requested and qualified for a 7th course in the spring during the course registration process.
- Counselors will be available outside of the counseling office during the first week of school to answer general questions.
- During the first FULL week of school, counselors will be adjusting schedules based on the following reasons ONLY:
- Hole in schedule (NOT including B/7th period, i.e. I do not have a 3rd period class).
- Current 12th grader missing graduation requirement class (i.e. I do not have senior English on my schedule).
- 9th-11th grader missing core class (i.e. English, History, or Math)
- Took a course over the summer and needs to be placed into the next level (i.e. took Geometry over the summer and needs to be placed into Algebra 2).
- Wrong level of class (i.e. enrolled in Spanish III, but should be in Spanish II).
- Schedule change requests will ONLY be accepted for the above reasons through this REQUEST FORM. Access to form is provided to students with an SRVUSD email only. This form will also be available on the Cal High Website, CHS Counseling Instagram page, and throughout campus with a QR code.
- Schedule change requests will NOT be accepted via phone, e-mail, or in-person. They must be submitted through the link listed above.
- Any preference changes (I changed my mind about my elective choice) may be requested AFTER the first full week of school.
- It is very important that students check their Infinite Campus portal regularly to see if their request has been granted. Unless this happens, it is expected that students follow their current schedule as listed in Infinite Campus.
