Principal's Message
Dear Hallinan Families,
And, it's March! A new month and a new character trait: COOPERATION, working together to reach shared goals. A prime example of COOPERATION is our PTO! They work tirelessly for the benefit of our school. This month, they bring the Gear Swap to Hallinan! What? You didn't know about the Hallinan Gear Swap? Let me tell you about it, and give you the opportunity to clean up your garage, closets and storage spaces. :)

YouthTruth Survey
I am happy to announce that YouthTruth is conducting a survey on our behalf to help us improve your child's school experience. Please complete this anonymous survey at your convenience, but before March 24 when it closes: ytsurvey.org/losdfamily23. The survey will take about 15 minutes of your time, but the information gathered will be extremely valuable to us as we plan for next year and the future.
Please note:
The survey needs to be completed in one sitting.
We ask that one member of each household fill out the survey.
If you have more than one child who attends the same school, you may respond to the survey multiple times - one time per child.
If you write any comments, please do not include your name or anything else that might identify you. Your responses are anonymous, and they will be combined with the responses of other parents and guardians before being shared back with school and district leadership.
The survey closes at midnight on March 24th
If you have any questions about the survey, or our plans for how we will use your feedback, please contact me. Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Your response is incredibly beneficial to us.

Hello Hallinan Families!
Slice of Gratitude:
This week we want to turn our thankfulness to our other board members Fallon Mertz our secretary, Meghan Hill our social media manager, Rachel Beeson our volunteer coordinator, and Erin Saylor our president advisor. Fallon is also our spirit wear and school supply chair and Rachel is also our vision screening chair and yearbook chair. These ladies put so much heart into everything they do and we are so grateful to work with them. If you see them around, please tell them how much you appreciate their efforts.
Auction & Carnival:
Dear Hallinan Parents,
We have decided to hold off on the auction until next school year. We were trying to create an inclusive event that would need less volunteer power than a stand-alone auction. We did have generous donors step up from inside our community and the wider LO area but we were not able to recruit enough volunteers to pull off the event. This is our first normal year back from 2020 and we know that many of you are feeling the totality of this busy time.
Hallinan is famous for our thriving community and fundraising abilities. As we head into next year, let's be ready to rally around each other, the kids, and the school. There are many fun ways you can be involved. We are committed to creating an equitable auction and will be recruiting for auction roles right at the start of the school year, and we want to talk to you about any volunteer interests you have. Please be on the lookout for a Sign-up Genius that lists roles for this coming school year and please reach out with any questions. We are recruiting for major and minor positions. These include the PTO board positions of treasurer, volunteer coordinator, and president. Some of these positions can be shared and even shared with current board holders.
IMPORTANT: The carnival date is being pushed back and we are still working on securing a time. Please check the Hawk Squawk and social media for more details.
Free Coffee!
Keep an eye out during morning drop off! We will be hosting some Thursday morning coffee stations out front. Simply come say hi or talk PTO volunteer positions and upcoming events!

Open Board Positions:
Treasurer: If you have a background or love for record-keeping and finance, this is the position for you. Our treasurer Sylvia Navarro rocked this year and she would LOVE to speak to you about what her role details. Please reach out to her at hallinantreasurer@gmail.com and inquire today. Sylvia would also be willing to share this role next year. We are also looking for a "shadow treasurer". Someone to watch and learn next year and then fill that role in 2024-2025 school year.
Volunteer Coordinator: Without our Volunteer Coordinator not a single PTO event would be possible. This vital role has been filled by Rachel Beeson for the last few years and we are so grateful for her. Here is a breakdown of duties:
- The coordinator will have the highest volume of workload in the fall (August – November) as school is getting back in session and holiday activities are being planned. Expect to spend a few hours per week creating and managing Sign Up Genius sites, communicating with the PTO board members and committee chairs, and following up with volunteers from the sign-up sheets.
- The volunteer coordinator will also be the main point of contact for the Classroom Parents throughout the year and may be responsible for drafting communication to them or sending out pre-drafted emails provided by the PTO.
- The coordinator is also actively involved in the recruiting effort. Speaking with teachers and other parents, sourcing volunteers across our Hallinan community.
Please reach out to Rachel at rachbeeson@gmail.com and inquire today.
Rachel is also open to sharing this role next year!
Co-President Role: This has been an incredibly rewarding position for the two of us. We have enjoyed assisting the more senior Hallinan parent volunteers in continuing their incredible work, and we have put forward our own passions and point of view. You are welcome to inquire about running this role as an individual or sharing the position. Either way, we would be here to advise you and help you create a successful 2023-2024 school year. Please reach out to us at hallinanpresident@gmail.com and inquire today.
