April Newsletter
Hi Falcons,
Guidance counselors have concluded meeting with all juniors individually regarding their course selections for next year and to personalize the future planning process.
All course selections have concluded and we've met with all students to go over their course selections.
Seniors continue to receive acceptance letters to college and our scroll was updated to reflect all of the wonderful achievements of the Class of 2026.
Scholarship applications are now in full swing. Please scroll down to find more information about scholarships available.
Class of 2026 College Acceptances
Please let Mrs. Shillan know your college acceptances so you can be added to the scroll. We encourage you to let us know as they come in, not once they are all in. Very excited to hear about all of your acceptances! 🎉🎉
If you have decided what college you are attending
Please update Naviance on the college you are attending, as well as your decisions for your other schools.
We collect data on acceptances, denials, and wait lists for all of our graduates, so please consider going into Naviance and update your account as your decisions come in.
Trying to Decide?
Attention Seniors: Are you trying to make a decision about which college you should attend?
Here are some things to consider:
1. What do you hope to get out of your college experience?
2. What are your top must haves?
3. Are there services you might need and how strong are they? (academic, counseling, advisory, medical support)
4. In what ways do you hope to grow and are their opportunities for that? (diversity, study abroad, activities, leadership)
5. How strong is the major you hope to pursue at the school? Are alumni working in the field or being accepted to graduate degree programs? (For example: Are you hoping to go on to medical school? Research the colleges' medical school acceptance rate).
6. Does the college have other majors that you might be interested in if you don't end up liking your major and how difficult is it to transfer into that major?
7. What are the opportunities for hands on experiential learning, research or internships in your major?
8. Compare costs, but keep in mind what you gain at each college. Do "you get what you pay for" and does that impact what you might need?
9. Will the environment be a comfortable one? Do you want to be challenged? Do you want students like you who perhaps enjoy intellectual discussions and will challenge your thoughts, or like you who are easy going and perhaps need a more socially diverse scene?
10. Read college blogs and social media sites. What are the issues? How happy are students? Check the freshman retention rate, are students returning to the school?
11. VISIT and try to picture yourself at the college. Even if you can't book a tour, if you can go to the campus and get out and walk around it might help you get a feeling for the school. Remember many colleges also offer virtual tours so check out the colleges websites.
College Decision Day - Friday, May 1st Wear your Future Plans Gear
To celebrate our seniors and their future endeavors, "National Decision Day" is celebrated on Friday, May 1st. Seniors will be called down to the gym during the last 15 minutes of period 1 (8:00am).
Seniors are encouraged to wear clothing representing their post-secondary plans (college gear, trade school shirts, military branches, or industry apparel).
At that time, a class photo will be taken. After the large class photo, we allow the seniors to take smaller group pictures in front of the DR backdrop.
Important Dates and News
All college deposits and decisions need to be made. Students will wear their t-shirts displaying their future plans and a group photo will be taken.

AP Exam Reminders
We want to remind you that the 2026 AP® Exam Terms and Conditions are available to review at cb.org/apexamterms. This agreement details the rules and policies students must follow related to taking the 2026 AP Exams.
No action is required from you at this time, aside from sharing this information with your AP students.
•
Students will need to accept these terms and conditions prior to taking each exam.
•
Any updates to the terms and conditions will be clearly summarized on the terms and conditions page.
Note: For AP courses with a portfolio submission (AP Art and Design, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Seminar, and AP Research), students will need to agree to the Digital Portfolio AP Exam Terms and Conditions before submitting their work as final within the AP Digital Portfolio. A PDF version of the Digital Portfolio AP Exam Terms and Conditions (.pdf/247 KB) is available for students to review prior to submitting their work as final.
Important Reminder for Digital AP Exams
Remember, for digital AP Exams (fully digital and hybrid digital) on exam day, students will need to sign in to Bluebook™ using their College Board student account information to access their digital AP Exam. Saving their password on their testing device won’t work.
Please encourage teachers of digital AP Exam subjects to make it a class assignment for students to locate their College Board student account information and sign in to Bluebook before exam day. Ensuring students can sign in to Bluebook will help avoid delays on exam day.
Please share this information with your AP students.
Sincerely,
Advanced Placement Program

Virtual Service Academy Night on Tuesday, May 12th from 6:15 - 7:30pm
The Office of Congressman Auchincloss is hosting a Virtual Service Academy Night on Tuesday, May 12th from 6:15-7:30pm. This is an opportunity for high school students in grades 9-11 to learn more about the application process for five United States Service Academies: West Point, Navy, Air Force, Merchant Marines, and Coast Guard.
During the Academy Night, students will get to hear from Congressman Auchincloss’ staff about the Congressional nomination process required for four of the five service academies (Coast Guard Academy does not require a Congressional nomination). We will also be joined by representatives from each of the service academies to hear about the individual schools’ application processes.
Pre-registration for the webinar is required. Students and parents may register for the webinar at the attached LINK.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact our Outreach Director directly at Catarina.Pereira@mail.house.gov or by phone at (617) 332-3333.
