WESTWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS

2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR - MAY EDITION

WESTWOOD MIDDLESCHOOL NEWS2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR - MAY EDITION

MAY MAY

May is here and we are down to our last month for the school year. I would like to say the weather is starting to warm up but there is a chance of snow flurries this weekend. There is warm weather in the future though. (Or at least that is what I want to believe.) As the weather warms, please remember our dress code. The Student Code of Conduct offers guidance on attire. Clothing must be school appropriate and may not present a health or safety hazard or disrupt the educational environment. Pants and tops must fit properly and be in good repair. Crop tops are not permitted. Please make sure shorts are finger tip length when arms are by their side. Tank tops with thin straps are not permitted. Additionally, footwear must be school appropriate--slippers and slipper socks are not permitted. Blankets also may not be worn in school. Please call the office if you have any questions.

Upcoming events:

We have our 5-8 Choir Concert on May 18 at Elyria High School in the PAC.

We have our 5-8 band and orchestra concert on May 19 at Elyria High School in the PAC.

We have field trips for 5th grade, 7th grade and 8th grade all coming up in May.

We have our end of the year awards assembly on the last day of school. Parents of students who are receiving an award will be receiving an invite to this. 5/6 is in the morning. 7/8 is in the afternoon.

We have been focusing on attendance all year this year! We have been working to make sure students are here and on time every day. We need to finish the year strong and be here on time daily. Just a few more weeks left.

Words Matter! What students say to each other and about themselves matter. We have to take this all very seriously! We want to make sure to keep reminding parents and students of this. A few reminders are:

  • Words matter!
  • Threats are taken seriously in all situations.
  • Report any online threat - Do NOT repost it.
  • Use kind words.
  • If you are frustrated - find someone to talk to, do not lash out with your words.
  • Report any threats

Please reach out if you have any questions.

As always, we appreciate your support and working together as a team in your child's education.

The mobile dentist will be visiting May 6th, 7th, and 8th. If you still would like to sign up, please visit: https://www.myschooldentist.com/

If your student will need medication for the next school year, forms can be found on the school’s website - departments - student services - student health and wellness - documents. You can also contact the clinic, and forms can be sent home with your student or emailed.

7th grade immunization requirements: one dose of Tdap and one dose of meningococcal are required. If still needed, please have your student receive them over the summer. Students that are not up to date on their immunizations will be excluded from school starting September 18th, 2026.

Have a safe, enjoyable summer break!

Update

Please click the red button above if you have not completed your students back to school information. This must be completed each year. This is important so we have the most up-to-date information about your student and in case there is an emergency.

Car Riders Car Riders

Car riders get picked up and dropped off on the elementary side of the building. Doors open at 7:25 and we dismiss starting at 2:12 with the final bell dismissing at 2:15. Please pull through the loops and drop off along the curb. Please do not drop off or pick up in the driving lane. Also we do not allow students to cross on their own. If you are in the parking lot, please park and cross your student in the crosswalk. We do NOT allow student to cross into other areas of the parking lots, especially the old Elyria West or old school board office lot. In the morning, please pull up to the curb near the door, drop your student off, and keep moving. This lane is for quick drop off’s. If you need to talk to your child, please pull into a parking spot and then walk them across or get back into the line to drop off. We do not sit along the curb and drop off.
