ECLC Peek at The Week
July 31, 2026
A Message from the Principal
Hello ECLC Families,
We’ve had a busy and productive week in the building getting everything refreshed, secure, and ready for our school community. We’ve had technical teams on site testing our walkie-talkies, key card entry systems, and security cameras, and we also had a new window installed in the main office.
Behind the scenes, we are thoroughly reviewing all of our safety protocols to ensure that our top priority, the safety and well-being of our students, is maintained with the utmost vigilance. We are getting more and more prepared for a wonderful and safe year ahead.
Next week I'll share about our Code of Conduct. There's lots of reviewed information below and some new as well. Thanks for reading!
Respectfully,
Laura
District Communication Plan
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we are updating our communication practices to make sure you receive clear, consistent, and meaningful updates about your child’s education and school community.
To streamline our communication and ensure every family receives the same high-quality updates, we will no longer be using ClassDojo or Class Tag.
While these apps served us well, managing multiple apps and notification systems can often feel overwhelming. By moving away from Dojo and Class Tag, we aim to simplify how you receive information and ensure that important updates don’t get lost in translation.
We are transitioning to a district unified approach where all updates will come through consistent, predictable channels:
Weekly School Newsletters: You will receive one comprehensive communication every week from school principals
Grade-Level Updates:
ECLC & BES: Grade level teams will share a bi-weekly newsletter using Smore
BMS: The office will send out a daily homework email for each grade alongside a monthly newsletter formatted via Smore or Canva.
BES and BMS Unified Arts teams will send monthly newsletters using Smore or Canva
Direct Teacher Communication: Teachers will actively contribute to these grade-level newsletters. For individual conversations regarding your child, teachers will reach out directly via email or phone, and they will remain committed to responding to parent inquiries within 24 to 48 hours.
With these streamlined updates, we kindly ask that you make it a regular habit to read the newsletters and updates sent to you. Because we are consolidating our messaging, these communications will contain vital, time-sensitive information about your child’s academics, school events, and behavioral supports. Staying connected is a true partnership, and taking a few minutes to read through these emails ensures we are all on the same page and working together for your child's success.
Because our communication is moving to these direct channels, it is essential that we have your correct and current contact information. Please take a moment to ensure your email address and phone number are up to date. If your contact information has changed, please update it when you complete your PowerSchool registration or call the school office directly to make the change. We want to make sure you don't miss a single update.
We appreciate your partnership and flexibility as we work to make our school-to-home connection stronger, clearer, and more efficient. Please keep an eye on your email in the coming weeks as our summer communication begins.
Registration and Teacher Letters
NEW STUDENTS: Your registration should be complete. Letters from the teachers will be mailed August 14th. If you don’t receive one, please call Ms. Tracey in the office. We only mail these to families that have registration 100% complete.
RETURNING STUDENTS: You will receive an email the first week in August asking you to update your registration. This is a chance to update any changes you may have. You will need to also update your child's medical information as there are some immunization requirements for Kindergarten students that are not required for preschool students.
Snack Time!
We set aside 10 minutes each day for snack time so students can quickly renourish their brains before jumping back into classroom activities. To keep snack time simple and manageable, please pack 1 or 2 items only. Below are some quick and easy snack ideas to help you plan:
Fresh Fruits & Veggies
5 baby carrots
10 cucumber slices
5 bell pepper strips
1 banana
1 small apple (sliced)
1 small orange (peeled)
5–10 grapes (cut lengthwise for safety)
5–10 grape or cherry tomatoes (cut in half)
Protein & Dairy
1 string cheese
1 hard-boiled egg (peeled)
1 yogurt or applesauce pouch
¼ cup hummus or ranch (for dipping veggies)
Grains & Crunchy Snacks
⅓–½ cup pretzels, cereal, or animal crackers
4–6 cracker sandwiches (with cheese or favorite filling)
⅓–½ cup homemade trail mix (cereal, pretzels, raisins)
1 granola bar
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our young learners energized and ready to thrive each day!
Cafe Services
We contract with Cafe Services to offer Kindergarten Lunch and Preschool Snack
Kindergarten Lunch: Students may bring lunch from home or buy lunch. We don't have a kitchen here, so all food is prepared at the middle school and brought to the ECLC. You'll receive a menu each month and it's also available online. The cost for lunch is $3.35.
Preschool Snack Pack: Students should bring a snack daily (1-2 food items only) or purchase a SNACK PACK. The Snack Pack includes a yogurt, fruit or vegetable and milk. The cost is $3.35. Blank Order Forms will be sent home the beginning of the year, you can request more if needed. Order Forms MUST be turned in the week PRIOR to the requested meal day.
You can find more information on the ECLC web page under Café Services or click https://barrington.linqnutrition.com/
Pick Up Patrol
You'll receive a welcome email from PickUp Patrol closer to the start of school. It is the platform we use for early dismissals and absences. Please set up an account and enter your students' Default Plan (car rider, bus rider, REC aftercare, etc.)
Popsicles with the Principal
ECLC Popsicle with the Principal Playdate! Everyone is welcome to join us on our playground behind the school on Monday, August 24 from 5-6pm. This is an opportunity to meet other families, let students play on the ECLC playground and meet Mrs. Deely and Ms. Tracey. We are ready to answer any and all questions you may have.
Meet and Greet
Mark your calendars! On Thursday, August 27, from 1:30 to 2:30 PM, we are opening our classrooms for our schoolwide Meet and Greet. Students are invited to come explore their new classrooms, meet their wonderful teachers, find their very own cubby, and say a quick hello to some new friends.
For families, this is also a great opportunity to take care of a few important details before school starts. Feel free to drop off any outstanding paperwork at the main office, hand over any medications directly to the school nurse, or bring in classroom donations your teacher may have requested. Most importantly, we'll be here to answer any questions you may have. We can’t wait to welcome you all!
