Principal's Message
Enjoy Labor Day Weekend!
Dear Croce Elementary Families,
I hope you and your family had a great 3rd week at school! Our students are quickly getting adjusted to the routine and are doing a great job of following the rules and being good friends to their peers.
Important Pickup Reminder:
To ensure a smooth and efficient pickup process, we kindly ask that all parents and guardians use the outside loop for valet pickup, instead of driving down the middle lanes. This helps us keep the flow of traffic moving and prevents staff from being blocked in when they need to leave. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated and helps us maintain a safe and organized environment for everyone.
Handicapped Parking:
We also want to remind everyone that handicapped parking spaces are reserved for those with a valid handicapped placard or license plate. Many of our students with special needs rely on these spaces, so it is essential that they remain available for those who truly need them.
No School on Monday:
Please remember that there is no school on Monday, September 2nd, in observance of Labor Day. We hope you enjoy a restful long weekend with your family!
This Week:
Paws for Reading: Students who signed permission will meet Library next Tuesday for a special reading event. It’s a great opportunity for students to explore new books and enjoy a fun, engaging activity.
Garden Days: Starting Wednesday, we will kick off our Garden Days! Students will have the chance to get hands-on experience in our school garden, learning about plants and nature.
Virtual English Learner Advisory Committee Meeting: We are hosting a virtual meeting for our English Learner Advisory Committee. We would LOVE for you to attend, as your voice and input are vital to our Croce community. More details will be sent out soon.
Running Club: Running Club starts this week! Tuesday and Thursday 8:00am-8:20am and Wednesday 1:30pm-1:50pm. This is great way for your students to get their energy out in a fun and healthy way and earn fun prizes! I hope to see them on the track.
Upcoming School Wide Homework Assignment: Respect at Home vs. Respect at School
For this assignment, we ask that you work with your child to discuss and reflect on what respect looks like at home compared to what it looks like at school. Here are the steps to guide you through this activity:
Discuss Respect: Talk with your child about what respect means and how it is demonstrated both at home and at school. Encourage them to think about specific behaviors and actions that show respect in each setting.
Compare and Contrast: Help your child identify and list the similarities and differences between how respect is shown at home and at school. This can include different rules, expectations, or ways of interacting with others, for instance how we might play differently with our siblings vs. playing on the playground with friends at school.
Reflect and Share: Ask your child to reflect on how these differences and similarities might affect their behavior and interactions in different environments. Discuss how understanding these distinctions can help them navigate various situations more effectively.
Complete the Assignment: Have your child write or draw their findings in a few sentences or draw pictures, depending on your student's age. Your teacher will give specific instructions for their grade level.
This activity is designed to foster important discussions about respect and encourage students to think critically about their behavior in different contexts. We will use the insights gathered from this assignment to guide our classroom discussions and help students learn to differentiate between the expectations at home and school.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. Have a wonderful and restful weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school next week!
