French Run Elementary School
October 2026
Note from the Principal
🍂 Happy October, Firebird Families!
October is here, and we are excited for another great month at French Run! Our students have worked hard to establish strong routines, demonstrate our SOAR expectations, and make each day count. Thank you to our families for your continued support and partnership.
One of the highlights of the month will be our annual PTO Walkathon on Friday, October 9! This is an exciting day for our students and an important fundraiser that directly supports French Run. We appreciate everyone who has already donated, shared fundraising information, or helped their child work toward one of our fun fundraising incentives. We can’t wait to celebrate together!
As we move through October, let’s continue working together to help every Firebird Learn, Lead, and SOAR!

Stay in the Game
🏫 Every Day Matters — Stay in the Game!
Being at school every day and on time is one of the most important things your child can do for success. Missing just two days of school each month can quickly add up and put a student at risk of becoming chronically absent.
According to nationwide data, students with consistent attendance are 3.9 times more likely to read on grade level by the end of third grade and 3 times more likely to graduate from high school on time.
Every school day provides important opportunities to learn, build relationships, develop routines, and be part of our French Run community. We know there are times when children need to stay home because they are sick, but whenever your child is healthy and able to attend, we need them here!
Let’s work together to help our Firebirds show up, keep learning, and Stay in the Game! 🔥
If you child is going to be absent, please let us know by calling 614-367-1950 or send us an email at attendance.FRES@reyn.org.

Stay in the Game for a Game
🎉 Stay in the Game – Attendance Matters!
We are excited to celebrate 101 French Run students who have maintained perfect attendance since the beginning of the school year! As part of our Stay in the Game attendance initiative, each of these students was entered into a random drawing for the chance to win a board game to take home and enjoy with their family.
Every day at school matters. Consistent attendance helps students stay connected to their learning, build strong relationships, and develop habits that contribute to long-term success. Missing even a few days can add up over the course of the year.
Congratulations to our students with perfect attendance, and thank you to our families for helping our Firebirds show up, stay engaged, and SOAR!
Annual PTO Walkathon
The walkathon is our biggest fundraiser of the school year and every dollar amount helps our students participate in educational field trips, have access to books and online programing, as well as, support the social-emotional needs of our students.
🔥 We’re Making Progress, Firebirds!
Our French Run Elementary PTO Walkathon is getting closer, and our Firebird community has already raised $4,372 toward our $10,000 goal!
Thank you to every family, student, and supporter who has donated and helped spread the word. Every contribution—big or small—moves us closer to our goal and directly supports our students and school.
We still have some ground to cover, and together, we can get that thermometer all the way to $10,000!
Keep sharing, keep fundraising, and let’s show what the French Run Firebird community can accomplish when we work together!
🔥 Current Total: $4,372
🎯 Goal: $10,000
Let’s go, Firebirds!
Pride Assembly - Respect
🌟 Pride Assembly: Celebrating Respect
At our recent French Run Pride Assembly, we celebrated students who were nominated by their classrooms for demonstrating Respect!
Our Respect Pride Team members were recognized for listening when others speak, using kind and thoughtful words, following classroom expectations, celebrating their classmates, showing patience, helping others, and treating students and staff with compassion. These students lead by example and help create classrooms where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and supported.
We are incredibly proud of our Respect Pride Team for showing us what it means to SOAR at French Run. Congratulations to all of our nominees, and thank you for making our school a better place each day! 💜💛

How can I apply for free and reduced lunch?
Apply Online for Meal Benefits
It is important for families to apply for meal assistance. This is what helps determine how much funding the school district gets for programs that help children, families, teachers and administrators.
- Go to www.PayschoolsCentral.com
- Click the option to register and set up your account
- Once your account is set up, you will need to know the six digit Student ID number for each child on the application. This ID number is found in Power School under your parent portal log-in. Additionally, many of the students know their ID number and may be able to provide that to you. If you are unable to locate this ID number through one of the methods listed, please feel free to call your child’s school or the Food Service office at 614-501-1030.
The online application may be completed on a laptop, desktop computer or mobile device.
3 Reasons to Apply
- Help for your family. Besides free-or-reduced priced school meals, your family may qualify for reduced school/activity fees, medical/housing/utilities and more.
- Help for our schools. The more applications the District gathers at the start of each school year, the more additional funding we could receive for all kinds of programs that directly help our community.
- Fast and secure. It only takes a few minutes to complete the online application. Your data is handled with strict protocols that ensure security and confidentiality.
Eligibility for Free Meals: Please remember that all children in households receiving benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Ohio Works First (OWF); foster children that are under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court; children participating in their school’s Head Start program; and children who meet the definition of homeless, runaway, or migrant are eligible for free meals.
