Childhood Cancer Month - Spirit Day Wearing Yellow Supporting Butler Students Childhood Cancer Month - Spirit Day Wearing Yellow Supporting Butler Students

User uploaded image
zoom_out_map
September was Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and on Monday, September 29th, Butler honored members of our community who continue to bravely fight this disease. Students and staff wore gold and yellow to show their support and raise awareness. The day began with a heartfelt message from Frankie W., who shared her personal story during the morning announcements. Her words inspired our school community and reminded us of the importance of empathy, resilience, and hope. Throughout the day, classrooms emphasized compassion and unity. Butler’s gold spirit shone brightly as we stood together in support of our students and families.

Butler Cell Phone/SMART Watch/Personal Device Policy

When in school, personal student cell phone/SMART Watch/device usage are to be silenced and remain in backpacks during the school day. In some instances, students need their device to monitor health status through each day, and this will remain in place. However, should there be a need for any student/home communication, it will take place with the support of the teacher/school office during the school day. These district expectations have been shared with students, and we appreciate your support with your children as we navigate each school day.

During Arrival and Dismissal, please remember the following:

  1. Parents are to remain in vehicles while your children exit (arrival) or enter (dismissal) their cars. In the interest to the flow of traffic, please practice this process with your children so they are able to do this independently.
  2. We encourage students entering their vehicles from the sidewalk (and not the street). This is to allow our staff to remain on the curb to support all the children transitioning to their vehicles.
  3. For those children who need support buckling in, parents may pull around to an open parking spot to strap in before leaving the property.

Thank you for your efforts in keeping our carline efficient and safe!

Carline Tags

Schoolhouse Driveline is an internal system organizing our notifications for cars and buses. Relatedly - All Families - If you ever plan to have your child picked up during Dismissal by vehicle through our carline, it is necessary to have your Carline Tag now - even if your family does not typically use the carline dismissal option. This may be due to a dismissal change, bad weather, an instrument, etc. Please contact the main office to get your family's personalized car tag!

Create a Meal Payment Account for Your Student on MySchoolBucks

CBSD utilizes the online platform MySchoolBucks for school meal payments, making it easy to oversee a child's meal choices and maintain their account balance. It is important that an account is created for every student, regardless of whether they take part in school meals or not. You can access MySchoolBucks to view and/or set up an account for your student(s) here. To set up an account, you will need your child(ren)'s student identification number(s), which can be found in the Parent Portal.

New School-Specific Forms to Report Bullying and Other Concerns

CBSD is committed to creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all. Each school's website now has a specific form under the school's Student Services or Guidance section where concerns related to bullying, cyberbullying, harassment, discrimination, or retaliation can be reported. Once submitted, the school building team will review the information and contact the appropriate individuals to begin the process of support and resolution. You school's Student Services or Guidance section can be accessed under the "Our School" or "Departments" menu on your school's homepage.

Butler Principals for the Day (Spring Fair 2025)

Each Spring Fair, our staff has "raffle baskets" which are won by students who submit tickets. For our principals, one or two lucky winners get to be "Principal for the Day" - and last springs winners, Olivia K. (Gr. 3) and Ryan T. (Gr. 5) got to spend Friday, September 19th with Mr. Funseth and Mrs. Brevic! They both got a glimpse into the world of the principal: visiting classrooms, making announcements, observing staff, supporting recess, and so much more. They even declared music in the cafeteria during lunch and gave staff a free jeans day! Olivia and Ryan were great principals!
