A Message from Dr. Stabler
Dear Abbotts Hill Parents,
Our overall performance on the Georgia Milestones (GMAS) for ELA and Math is an indication of the hard work of ALL teachers and staff, students and support from our community.
The results from the April 2024 GMAS for ELA were released earlier this year. Now the GMAS mathematics have been released, and Fulton County Schools continues to exceed both the state and RESA in terms of a combined proficient and distinguished score in mathematics.
Math results are being released now because the assessments were updated to align with the new K-12 Mathematics Standards first implemented during the 2023-24 school year.
The 2023-24 Georgia Milestones scores continued to show some positive indicators in the area of early literacy, with the percentage of students scoring Proficient & Above. In addition, the 2023-24 Georgia Milestones scores also show some positive indicators in the area of math.
We are so proud of our students, staff and school community!

Upcoming Parent University Sessions!!
Thank you for completing the Parent University Survey. We will have two opportunities in October. Our wonderful Learning Common’s Teacher, Ms. Dickinson, will provide a presentation on how to use MackinVIA™. You will be able to watch the presentation at your convenience. Ms. Dickinson’s presentation will be posted on the Abbotts Hill’s website. Below is a little more about MackinVIA™.
Accessing MackinVIAâ„¢ is a program that makes it easy to access Abbotts Hill's Learning Common's digital resources. Students can access eBooks, digital audiobooks, approved web links, videos and much more. MackinVIA is easy! Just click on the E-Library in your ClassLink account and then select MackinVIa (the rainbow pinwheel icon).
The second Parent University workshop will be on October 28. Our Counselor, Ms. Carlotta Johnson, will have special guests that will present strategies to help your child cope with anxiety. You can either come in person or join us via Teams. More information will be coming in the next Hilltop Happening.
Fulton County Schools Illness Policy
Students who exhibit symptoms such as a fever of 100.4°F or greater, diarrhea, vomiting, or any potential or actual contagious illness (including rashes) MUST NOT be sent to school and will not be permitted to remain at school. To return to school, a student should have improved symptoms and be free of fever for more than 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications (such as acetaminophen/Tylenol or ibuprofen/Advil/Motrin). Additionally, the student must be free from diarrhea and vomiting for at least 24 hours. In some cases, students may be required to obtain clearance from a healthcare provider before returning to school. A note from the healthcare provider must be provided for students diagnosed with a contagious illness, respiratory illnesses, chronic diarrhea, or recurrent fever. If a student becomes ill at school, has a fever, or exhibits a potentially contagious or communicable illness, the parent or legal guardian will be notified to pick up their child immediately. The parent or legal guardian MUST ARRANGE for the student to be taken home. The school may request a note from a healthcare provider before the child can return to school.
Bringing Treats to School
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the upcoming holidays, it important to remind parents and families that candy, desserts, baked goods (store bought/homemade), or any other edible items are not to be sold or distributed at school or on the bus unless approved in advance by school administration. Per our Student Code of Conduct, students who do not adhere to this expectation are subject to disciplinary action for violation 7A: Failure to Follow Rules and all candy or food items will be confiscated. Please discuss this expectation and possible consequences with your student(s) as this will be taken very seriously. This is due to recent national and state reports about students sharing edible items and synthetic medications with other students that contain very harmful substances.
Please know that taking this measure will help us maintain a safe environment for all students. You can help us protect your student(s) by requesting that they not eat anything given to them by another person, anything that they have not brought from your home or anything not in its original sealed package.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping all of our students safe at school!
Estimados padres y tutores,
