Message From the Principal
Dear Wildwood Families,
When I visited each classroom the first week of school to introduce myself, I told students that the most important part of my job, as principal, is to keep everyone safe at school. One part of keeping students and staff safe is reviewing safety protocols and participating in safety drills. We are required to practice four different kinds of drills-fire, earthquake, lockdowns, and shelter in place. We will be doing one drill per month this year.
Next Monday, September 22nd, at our monthly community meeting, I will be sharing student expectations for participating in our first fire drill of the year on Wednesday, September 24th. For this first drill, I will not be sounding the alarm. I will be announcing the drill over the intercom and telling students and teachers to evacuate the building. In my announcement, I am very clear that it is only a drill. I do not want to unnecessarily panic any students. The point of these drills is to prepare students so that they won’t be scared in the case of an actual emergency. They can trust that they know what to do and that the adults around them will keep them safe. Please check in with your children after the drill on the 24th and ask them how it went.
At our next three monthly assemblies, I will be going over the expectations for the other three drills we will be doing and I will make you aware of our protocols and the timing of those drills before they happen. I appreciate all of your support in helping us keep our community safe.
In partnership,
Amy Fry

PEF Giving Campaign
PEF Presents $4.1 Million Check to PUSD and Launches The Giving Campaign At the school board meeting on September 10, the Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF) proudly presented a giant check for $4,116,427 to PUSD. This record-breaking grant represents a year of dedicated fundraising and highlights the incredible support from our community. 94% of this grant directly funds the people who make Piedmont schools exceptional: our classroom teachers, librarians, paraeducators, classroom aides, intervention specialists, technology coordinators, counselors, nurses, psychologists, athletics staff, and special education professionals. This year’s Giving Campaign launched on Tuesday. PEF encourages everyone to keep the momentum going at PiedmontEdFoundation.org/donate.

In our effort to support the unhoused population in our area, we will assemble essential items and heartfelt notes of encouragement to distribute locally. Whether you can donate supplies or lend a hand in assembling the bags, your involvement makes a difference. Let’s unite to spread kindness and compassion in our community! Refreshments will be provided. We hope to see you there! Family members and kiddos welcome. Please click on the SIGN UP to donate care bag items. This website gives helpful info about what is useful (and not) for unhoused people. You can buy new things or search your stash for gently used items (like socks, nail clippers and water bottles-see the website for more details). If you prefer, you can venmo a donation (@Allison-Allessio and I will purchase items on your behalf.
Harvest Festival 9/21
The City of Piedmont is excited to introduce a brand-new feature at this year's Piedmont Harvest Festival —apple cider making! On Sunday, September 21st, bring your apples to the festival and press your own fresh cider right on the spot. Whether they’re picked from your backyard tree, purchased at the store, or gathered as bruised fruit from your local grocer, all apples are welcome. This hands-on experience is made possible thanks to Piedmont resident Richard Sykes, who is generously donating the use of a handcrafted apple press he built himself. Come celebrate the harvest season in a truly local and delicious way!
If you bring a bounty of apples and would like to take some home to enjoy later, make sure to bring a sealable container on Sunday.
