Overview Of K Academy Overview Of K Academy

What is Kindergarten Academy?

Kindergarten Academy is a new way of thinking about how to start kindergarten. This approach allows all educators to assess and sort students into balanced classes based on their individual needs, abilities, and learning styles. During the first week of school, students will rotate to all kindergarten classrooms throughout the day. By observing student needs, friendships, and interactions early on, "right fit" classrooms can be developed for all students!

Benefits from K Academy!

  • The Right Fit for Every Child
  • Balanced Classroom Communities
  • Allow All Students to Be Assessed
  • Smooth Transition to School
  • Creates a Better Understanding of Each Student's Needs and Abilities During the Academy
  • Classes can be Divided both Academically and Socially

Arrival & Dismissal During K Academy

Students will start and end the day with the same teacher. This will ensure your child's safety is our number one priority! Car/bus tags will be placed on backpacks during the first day of school to identify your child's transportation plan quickly.

Saftey

One of our goals is to have a fun start to the new year with our Kinders! We want them to have a positive and fun interaction with all teachers and students.

Below is the plan for all Kinder-Students from August 25th-28th.

Your student(s) will be placed in a Homeroom-Class on August 25th, the first day of school. They will NOT rotate on this first day.

  • On August 26th, the second day of school, your student will begin in their Homeroom-Class before transitioning. Their Homeroom-Class-Teacher will take attendance and lunch count with that same group of students. (They will take attendance and lunch count daily, in this same pattern, from August 26th through August 28th). They will guide their students through transitions during the day.
  • Following their Homeroom-Classtime, the students will rotate to work with different Kindergarten teachers until lunch.
  • Prior to lunch, the students will rotate back to their Homeroom-Class.
  • Following lunch, the students will rotate again to the same rotation they were previously in.
  • At the end of the day, the students will rotate back to their Homeroom-Class prior to dismissal.

Your student will follow the same procedure for their same Homeroom-Class daily through the 28th.
