FFA Spirit Week!
FFA Hosts Food Drive District-Wide!
Our FFA chapter is excited to announce that we will be participating in the annual canned food drive competition sponsored by Springfield Plastics during National FFA Week (Feb 18-21). This competition allows local FFA chapters to collect canned goods for donation, with the winning chapter receiving a $1,000 donation to help fund their trip to the Illinois State FFA Convention.
To encourage participation within our schools, we would like to make this a fun and engaging competition:
- Junior High & High School: We will compete by 1st-hour classes, with the class collecting the most canned goods, winning donuts.
- Elementary School: We will compete by class, with the top class winning a pizza party (though we are open to suggestions if another incentive would work better for your students).
Stride Season is Starting for the Spring!
The spring season for Stride is coming up! Stride is a character education running program for boys in grades 3-5. (Similar to Girls on the Run) It is a 10-week program that ends with a 5K at LLCC. What is 211?
With approximately 1.5 million nonprofit organizations in the United States plus scores of
government agencies, finding help can be confusing and intimidating. People who need help
often do not know where to begin.
211 call centers are staffed by trained specialists who quickly assess the callers’ needs and
refer them to the help they seek. It’s simple to remember, accessible to everyone, toll-free,
available 24/7, with multilingual capabilities.
211 in Sangamon and Menard County is funded by United Way of Central Illinois. By bringing
this service to the community, especially at a time when more individuals and families need
health and human service support, United Way is fulfilling its mission of mobilizing resources to
meet community needs.
