Developing life-long learners through positive collaboration
Notes from Dr. Jacob
Dear MCE Families-
As we move into the month of March, I want to thank our amazing MCE families for your continued partnership and support. Your involvement—both at home and at school—plays a vital role in our students’ success.
Even as we continue our work this school year, our team is already beginning to plan for the upcoming summer and the 2026–2027 school year. The district is currently working on the 2026–2027 school calendar, and we will be sure to share that information with families once it has been finalized.
Thank you to everyone who helped make Read Across America Week and our OPAA! Renaissance Day such a success. It was so much fun to see students and staff dressed up and participating in the celebrations!
As a quick reminder, families are encouraged to regularly check their child’s lunch balance through Infinite Campus. If you have questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Debbie. She sends home lunch balance sheets most Fridays, so please be sure to watch your child’s backpack for these updates.
Thank you for being an important part of our MCE community as we work together to develop life-long learners through positive collaboration.
Looking forward to a wonderful spring,
Dr. Jacob
Principal, Montgomery City Elementary
February was HOT, HOT, HOT!
Last month students at MCE participated in the HOT HOT HOT Attendance Challenge, which encourages students to be here and on time every day.
We are excited to celebrate our February winners! Ms. Dempsey’s 1st grade class and Mrs. Harter’s 4th grade class each earned a popcorn party for their outstanding attendance. Both classes had all students present and on time for 5 school days during the month of February, which was the highest total in the building.
👏 Great job to these students, families and teachers for their commitment to starting the day ready to learn!
Reminder for Families
🚪 Doors open / Breakfast served: 7:30 a.m.
⏰ Academic day begins: 7:50 a.m.
Please plan for your child to arrive early enough to eat breakfast (if needed) and be in class ready to learn by 7:50 a.m. Being on time helps students settle in, connect with classmates, and begin the day successfully.
Hat Day: March 4th & 18th
Spelling Bee: March 10th
Trash Bag Sales: March 10th-20th
Be on the lookout! Information for our Trash Bag Fundraiser will be coming home with students on Tuesday, March 10.
🗓 Orders Due: March 20
Funds raised from this fundraiser help support our end-of-the-year testing incentive — Bounce House Day. This special event celebrates students for their hard work and effort during state testing.
Thank you for supporting our students and helping make this celebration possible!
We are looking forward to celebrating our students during our 3rd Quarter Celebration. The celebration will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Families will be contacted by their child’s teacher if their student will be recognized with an academic or character award during the event.
As part of the celebration, we are excited to welcome the High School Band, who will perform and demonstrate their musical talents. They will also share information with students about the opportunity to participate in band in middle school and high school.
