Bus Safety and Concerns
Dear Parents and Guardians,
A safe bus ride is the best way to start and end the school day. Because our drivers' primary focus is on the road, transportation implements a structured approach to managing student behavior to ensure everyone stays safe. If you have any additional questions or concerns, then please reach out to South Transportation @470-254-6060 and if they don't respond, then please contact the supervisor, Ms. Marshall @470-254-6062. Thanks
Here are the standard steps our drivers take to maintain a positive environment:
- Setting Clear Expectations: At the start of the year, drivers establish "Bus Rules" (such as staying seated and using inside voices) so every student knows what is expected.
- Verbal Reminders: For minor disruptions, drivers will give a calm, direct verbal prompt to help the student get back on track.
- Assigned Seating: If a student or group continues to struggle with behavior, the driver may assign specific seats to reduce distractions and peer conflict.
- Driver-Student Check-ins: Drivers often speak privately with students when the bus is parked to understand any issues and reinforce expectations without an audience.
- Parent Check-Ins: Drivers should contact you when the undesired behavior continues
- Formal Reporting: If behaviors become a safety concern or remain persistent, the driver will submit a conduct report to the school administration for further follow-up.
We appreciate you taking a moment to review these steps with your child. When we work together, we ensure that every student arrives at school ready to learn.

As we quickly move through our second semester, I believe our scholars have what it takes to be amongst the best and brightest of the Fulton County Schools, and maybe even the world; however, we need them to be able to do even BETTER! Help them to understand kindness over the break by reminding them the importance of treating others the way they wish to be treated: with respect, kindness and compassion. Join me in helping them understand that they don't have to be friends with everyone but they should be friendly towards everyone, especially if they want people to be friendly to them. Keeping our hands to ourselves and keeping our words kind to one another goes a long way in helping to create an inclusive environment where all can learn and be the BEST version of themselves. Remember that their best can't be achieved without a little assistance from our parents and guardians. GO PATRIOTS!!
The Student Success Skills Inventory is used to measure student growth across Student Success Skill standards as a result of Rethink Ed lessons. It takes about 15 minutes to complete. The inventory is pushed out to students using the Illuminate platform. Parents can choose to opt their student out of the inventory. To opt out, parents must submit a written request to opt out to the school counselor.
Camp MAGIK/Erin is pleased to announce its 2026 spring session for children and adolescents. Camp MAGIK (Mainly About Grief In Kids)/Camp Erin serves children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or other close family member within the past three years. Camp MAGIK/Erin will provide an opportunity for children and teens to meet, talk, and process their grief with professional grief counselors. Time will also be spent on play and fun as a way to help the campers heal from the experience of death in the family. Recreational activities may include archery, canoeing, a ropes course, nature hikes, scavenger hunts, campfires, storytelling, and a talent show. Each camp will be divided into two large groups, one for ages 6 - 11, and one for ages 12 – 18, for all recreational activities. Campers are then divided into smaller groups according to their age for sharing and processing activities. Application forms are available below or at www.campmagik.org under the “join us” tab. Applications need to be postmarked and sent to Camp MAGIK, 3377 Ridgewood Road, Atlanta, GA 30327 or emailed to campmagik@gmail.com by the deadline dates (April 10, 2026). You can either scan or take a picture of your application to email. Due to the high demand for this camp, we cannot accept repeat campers.
Camp MAGIK is FREE OF CHARGE for all attending children. Their Hampton camp is sponsored by generous support from the private donors.
We are proud to have our partnership with Chris180, one of the area's premiere mental health, child welfare and family service organizations, in empowering families and helping children overcome difficulties they may face. If you feel that your child may benefit from a deeper therapeutic interaction, please contact me for more information regarding their services for our scholars.
The Counselling Dept. and the Attendance Team would like to remind you the importance of having an exemplary attendance record. Absences and tardiness can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up. Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school—and themselves. We start school at 7:40am each and every school day and scholars can be dropped off as early as 7:10am. Start building the habit of arriving every day on time so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Eventually good attendance will be a skill that will help them succeed in high school, college, and beyond.
Clicking here will take you to my webpage, which provides information about the counseling services at Liberty Point Elementary, as well as some resources you can use at home. Please check the webpage often as it is updated periodically to include new resources and information gathered throughout the school year.
If you would like to contact me, please feel free to send an email or call me directly at (470)254-9657.
