School is in session on November 1st!
Pope's Pumpkin Patch
On Wednesday and Thursday our elementary students went to Pope's Pumpkin Patch. The students had a great time going down the hay bale slide, jumping on the pumpkin pillow and watching the cannon shoot pumpkins. Each student was able to pick out a pumpkin to take home. 🎃 Thank you to Pope Farms for allowing the students to come every year and Mrs. Reid for organizing this fun field trip.
5th Grade Visits Election Office
The 5th grade classes toured the election office to learn how their office supports our civic responsibility of voting. We are in a presidential election year, so it is perfect timing and never too early to teach students about the importance of voting. Students even got to see how they collect ballots and seal the drop off box.
FFA National Convention
Our FFA Farm Business Management team traveled to Indianapolis for the National FFA Convention. They competed on Wednesday morning securing a Silver team plaque. Anderson Filla and Caleb Hansen were in the Bronze category, and Merek Charney and Caleb Poss were in the Silver category. These students went up against 43 other teams from all different states and about 172 students.
We are so proud of this team and their representation of the Akron FFA Chapter and the state of Colorado! While there they also toured the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and National FFA Center.
Shout out to Mr. Randel for attending this event with them!
Fight the Funk Leadership
On Wednesday, high school students attended a Fight the Funk leadership summit at NJC. This event provided students with leadership tools and resources to create lasting change in their school communities, with a follow-up event planned for February 2025 to provide ongoing support.
Activities that the students participated in included:
Youth-led discussions on stress and substance use issues
Collaborative action plan development with students and adult mentors
Keynote presentations on youth leadership and substance misuse
Homecoming Royalty
Despite the cold and rainy weather, the Homecoming festivities went on. Our attendants this year were Freshmen Rylee Roseberry and Ryder Gilbert, Sophomores Mackenzie Fincher and Wyatt Burgess, Juniors Shirley West and Calvin Quick, and Seniors Elyse Jackson and Caleb Poss.
This years Homecoming King was Caleb Poss and Queen was Elyse Jackson.
HS Volleyball
Last Thursday, the Lady Rams hosted Hi Plains for the homecoming game. Although they didn't get a win, the team spirits remain high as they continue to work together, perfecting their plays and strategies on the court.
On Tuesday, the Lady Rams hosted Wray. The C and JV team played well, but came up short against the Eagles, while the varsity team swept them in 3 sets!
They will be back in action again on Friday at Sedgwick County at 4pm and Saturday at home against Burlington at 1pm.
HS Football
Friday night the Rams hosted Dayspring for the homecoming game. The Rams had to battle the elements as much as they did the opposing team to bring home a 32-14 win.
On Monday, the JV football team took their turn against the Dayspring Christian Eagles this time in Greeley. The teams battled back and forth with the Eagles eventually coming away with the win.
MS Boys Basketball
The MS boys had their first games of the season on Monday in Brush. A, B, D and E all lost, but the C team pulled off a win. The MS boys season will continue with a tournament on Tuesday, Oct 29th in Wiggins.
