🐯 Introducing Jefferson’s New Mission Statement!
We are excited to share Jefferson Elementary’s new mission statement! Thank you to the families who participated in the voting process. Your voices helped shape a statement that reflects our shared commitment to our students and their success.
Our Mission
We at Jefferson Elementary school believe that all children can learn when provided with a supportive environment rooted in equity. Jefferson educators are constantly adapting our strategies and improving our craft to meet the evolving needs of our learners. We are committed to knowing and valuing the whole student; their potential, their languages, their ever-growing abilities, their histories, and their capacity for civic engagement.
This mission will guide our work as we create a school where every child feels known, valued, and supported to grow. Thank you for being our partners in this work. Together We Climb!
👀 A Peek at Our Amazing Work 👀
First graders created colorful pumpkin patch paintings while exploring color mixing and line design! They mixed red and yellow paint to make different shades of orange, then decorated their pumpkins with a variety of lines to give each one a unique look.
Fourth graders explored Cubism through the art of Pablo Picasso, then created their own unique self-portraits! They experimented with Cubist techniques and negative space—the areas around and between shapes—to bring their creative visions to life.
Third graders are learning about Día de los Muertos and the special significance of monarch butterflies, or mariposas monarca, in this celebration. They are exploring how these butterflies symbolize the return of loved ones’ spirits and connect to traditions of remembrance.
After reading The Dot by Peter Reynolds, first graders put their creativity to work by designing their own unique dots! Three first-grade classes brought their artwork together to create this colorful collaborative mural, celebrating how everyone can make their mark.
STEAM Class
Third graders are bringing The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle to life through animation! This creative project gives students a chance to combine storytelling and art as they make the beloved caterpillar move across the screen.
Jefferson Tigers and The Berwyn Bs
Students enjoyed spending their hard-earned Tiger Paws at our first school store of the year! We’re proud of their efforts to Be Safe, Be Kind, and Be Ready to Learn each day. Keep up the great work, Tigers!
