Blanco Vista Bulletin
Dear Wildcat Families,
Happy September! We are excited for all that this month has in store at Blanco Vista Elementary. September is a wonderful time to celebrate our students, our families, and the many cultures that make our Wildcat community so special. We look forward to recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month and celebrating the rich traditions, history, culture, and contributions of the Hispanic community.
We are also excited to kick off our Fall Wildcat Clubs! Clubs will begin on Friday, September 25th, and we encourage families to sign their students up. Wildcat Clubs are a great opportunity for students to explore new interests, build friendships, learn new skills, and have fun with their fellow Wildcats!
One of the highlights of the month will be our Open House on Tuesday, September 15th, from 5:30–6:30 p.m. We hope all of our families will join us! Open House is a wonderful opportunity to visit your child’s classroom, connect with their teacher, and learn more about their academic progress and goals for the year. Teachers will share mCLASS and MAP results, academic goals, and other important information about your child’s learning and growth.
During Open House, some teachers will also offer sign-ups for parent-teacher conferences and ways for families to get involved in our upcoming Fall Market Day. We love having our families involved on campus and appreciate all you do to help make BVES such a special place!
Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and commitment to our Wildcats. We are looking forward to a September filled with learning, celebrating, connecting, and growing together!
With Wildcat pride,
Mrs. Rodriguez

A message from our Safety Resource Officer (SRO)
Greetings, Parents of Blanco Vista!
Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Rhegan Davis, and I am the Deputy assigned to BVES as a School Resource Officer. This is my 14th year in law enforcement. Over my career, I have been in many different positions, and this is by far the best one yet. My main responsibility as the BVES SRO is to make sure all of your children arrive and go home safely, which I am certain you all appreciate.
With that said, I have a couple of requests that would very much help me in this duty. I know morning drop-off and afternoon pickup are hectic. I completely understand that many of you have jobs you must get to, and no one enjoys waiting in a line for anything. But there are a couple of observations I have made so far that I’m hoping we can work through.
Parking: Texas law prohibits parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, in front of a fire hydrant, or 30 feet of a stop sign. This helps us maintain better visibility in our roadways. This can be found under Texas Transportation Code 545.302.
U-Turns: Texas law allows for U-turns when they can be made safely. This essentially cannot be done when the school zones are active in the morning and afternoon. This is found in Texas TC 545.103.
Crossing Guards: A person may not willfully fail or refuse to comply with the lawful direction of a school crossing guard. This can be found under Texas TC 542.501.
Ultimately, I have one big request that I know many of you will not appreciate. But this process is done for a safety reason. If your child arrives at school or goes home in a vehicle in any way, on a daily basis, please use the car rider line. This limits the number of moving vehicles and walking children interacting in uncontrolled environments.
I really appreciate your assistance with keeping everyone’s children safe!
Humbly,
Rhegan

Grading Guidlines District Handbook
These guidelines establish the minimum number of assignments, projects, and examinations required for each grading period. In addition, these guidelines establish how the student’s mastery of concepts and achievement will be communicated (i.e., letter grades, numerical averages, checklist of required skills, etc.). Grading guidelines also outline in what circumstances a student will be allowed to redo an assignment or retake an examination for which the student
originally made a failing grade. Procedures for a student to follow after an absence will also be addressed.
