HT Athletics: Husky Highlights from Last Week
🐾⚾ Huskies Sweep the Eagles! ⚾🐾
What a week for Hewitt-Trussville Baseball as the Huskies completed a 3-0 series sweep over Oak Mountain in dominant fashion!
💥 Game 1 (9-4 W)
After trailing early, the Huskies exploded in the 4th inning to take control. A big night at the plate combined with aggressive base running (6 stolen bases!) powered the win. McIntosh was lights out in relief, striking out 8 over 4 innings, while Mitchell led the offense with a 3-hit performance.
🔥 Game 2 (7-5 W – 8 innings)
A back-and-forth battle went to extras, but the Huskies stayed composed. McIntosh drew a go-ahead walk and Alfano added a sac fly in the 8th to seal it. Clark shut the door with 2 scoreless innings, and the Huskies once again dominated the bases with 7 stolen bases.
🚨 Game 3 (4-3 W – Walk-Off!)
Friday night brought the drama at HTHS. Down to their final inning, the Huskies delivered as Alfano came through with a clutch walk-off double, driving in two to complete the sweep! Strong pitching late from Bromley secured the comeback victory.
💪 Across all three games, the Huskies showed toughness, depth, and relentless energy—whether it was timely hitting, patient at-bats, or aggressive base running.
🔴 Sweep secured. Momentum building.
Current Area Standings:
Vestavia 4-0
Hewitt 2-2
Hoover 1-3
Oak Mountain 1-3
🏆🐾 Huskies Own the Hewitt Invitational
Hewitt-Trussville made the most of being on its home track Friday, picking up both team titles at the Hewitt-Trussville Invitational. The boys finished with 131 points, and the girls followed with 155—both good for first place in a strong field.
On the boys side, it was a little bit of everything. Devin Kouanvih grabbed a win in the 200, and the Huskies kept piling up points with solid finishes across the board in sprints, distance, and field events. Noah Jordan led the way in the 800, while Zion Westry scored in both jumps to help keep the momentum going. It wasn’t one big moment—it was a lot of guys finishing near the top and doing their job.
The girls were just as strong, maybe even more consistent from start to finish. Jayda Hammonds had a big day with wins in the long jump and triple jump, plus points in the sprints. In the throws, Jaliyah Edwards picked up a win in discus and added more in shot put.
There were points everywhere—Olivia Reese in the hurdles and sprints, Lia Carter in the long jump, and Kaylee White in the high jump. The relays and distance group added to it, and it all added up pretty quickly.
The para events were strong too. George Merchant, Caylin Kennemur, and Sarah Thomas each had multiple wins and kept the momentum going throughout the meet.
At the end of the day, it wasn’t flashy—it was just a really solid meet across the board. A lot of contributors, a lot of points, and both trophies staying at home. 🐾

🏆 JV Metro Champions! 🥎🐾
The Hewitt-Trussville JV Softball team capped off an incredible Metro Tournament run with a 3-0 win over Thompson in the championship game.
In a game defined by strong pitching on both sides, the Huskies struck early and never looked back. In the first inning, Sophie Bullington and Chayce Clayton each delivered doubles, and Hadley Mitchell followed with an RBI single to plate all three runs the Huskies would need.
Sophia Shubert was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout. She allowed just three hits over five innings and kept Thompson from ever building momentum.
Offensively, Bullington and Macie Goins led the way with two hits each, while Bullington, Clayton, and Mitchell each drove in a run. The Huskies also played flawless defense, highlighted by a key double play that helped maintain control of the game.
Thompson played solid defense and made consistent contact but was unable to break through against the Huskies’ pitching.
Hewitt-Trussville finishes the season with an outstanding 29-0-1 record. Entering the Metro Tournament playing their best softball of the year, the Huskies opened with a 3-3 tie against Helena before responding with a 15-2 win over Hoover and a 6-2 victory over Chelsea.
