ROAR REPORT

Dear Wilson Families,

What an incredible month November has been! I am truly thankful to be part of the Wilson Elementary community and grateful for your continued support. We enjoyed so many fun activities together—from the Turkey Trot and Gobble Contest to the Mane Event Assembly and more. It has been wonderful to see our students working so hard, and I encourage you to continue supporting them at home by reminding them to do their best each day, even when things feel challenging.

As we move into December, we have several exciting activities planned, so please be sure to read through the newsletter carefully. Additionally, please review our winter weather policy and make sure your child comes to school with a warm coat. We also ask that coats be labeled with your child’s name. If your child is in need of a winter coat, please reach out to me—I'm happy to help in any way I can.

¡Qué increíble mes de noviembre hemos tenido! Estoy verdaderamente agradecido de ser parte de la comunidad de Wilson Elementary y agradezco su continuo apoyo. Disfrutamos de muchas actividades divertidas juntos: desde el Turkey Trot y el concurso Gobble hasta la asamblea de Mane Event y muchas más. Ha sido maravilloso ver a nuestros estudiantes trabajando tan duro, y les animo a seguir apoyándolos en casa, recordándoles que den lo mejor de sí cada día, incluso cuando las cosas sean desafiantes.

Acadience Reading and Math testing will take place this month, and we kindly ask for your support in ensuring students are at school each day and on time. These assessments help us track growth and guide instruction, and your encouragement makes a big difference. Please remind your student to do their best and to work toward the goals they have set with their teacher. This testing is very important for their progress, and we cannot wait to see all they accomplish!

Las pruebas de Lectura y Matemáticas de Acadience se llevarán a cabo este mes, y amablemente les pedimos su apoyo para asegurar que los estudiantes asistan a la escuela todos los días y lleguen a tiempo. Estas evaluaciones nos ayudan a medir el crecimiento y guiar la instrucción, y su estímulo marca una gran diferencia. Por favor, recuerde a su estudiante que dé lo mejor de sí y que trabaje para alcanzar las metas que ha establecido con su maestro(a). As the weather begins to get colder, please make sure your child brings a warm coat to school each day. It’s very helpful if your child’s name is written inside their coat so it can be returned easily if it gets misplaced. If your child is in need of a coat, please reach out to Mrs. Jorgensen—we will do our best to help.

According to district policy, students are expected to go outside for recess unless there are extreme weather conditions (such as a wind chill below 20 degrees).

If your child needs to stay indoors for health reasons, please send a note explaining the situation. For an extended indoor stay (longer than three days), a doctor’s note is required.

A medida que el clima comienza a enfriarse, asegúrese de que su hijo(a) traiga un abrigo cálido a la escuela todos los días. Es muy útil que el nombre de su hijo(a) esté escrito dentro del abrigo para que pueda ser devuelto fácilmente si se pierde. Si su hijo(a) necesita un abrigo, por favor comuníquese con la Sra. It is almost time for our second SEP- Parent/Teacher Conference Night. It will be held on Thursday, December 11th from 3:15-8:30 PM. The teachers will have a break for dinner from 5:30-6:15 PM.

The PTA will be hosting a Jingle and Mingle on Tuesday, December 16th, from 6:00–7:30 PM. Here’s how the evening will work:

• You are welcome to come anytime between 6:00 and 7:30 PM, whatever works best for your schedule.
• Families will enter through the lunchroom door and receive a ticket with a number.
• Throughout the evening, there will be several fun activities including a visit with Santa, a craft, a treat, and other holiday-themed stations.
• Families are welcome to enjoy the different activities, and when your number is called, you will head to the hallway for your turn to visit Santa.

If you are interested and able to volunteer to help out that evening, please sign up HERE. We would love your help! Thank you in advance!

This will be a wonderful night of family holiday fun and a great way to support our PTA!

La PTA organizará un Jingle and Mingle el martes, 16 de diciembre, de 6:00 a 7:30 PM. Así es como funcionará la noche:

• Puede venir en cualquier momento entre las 6:00 y las 7:30 PM, según lo que funcione mejor para su horario.
• Las familias entrarán por la puerta del comedor y recibirán un boleto con un número.
• Durante la noche, habrá varias actividades divertidas, incluyendo una visita con Santa, una manualidad, un refrigerio y otras estaciones con temas festivos.
• Las familias pueden disfrutar de las diferentes actividades, y cuando se llame su número, pasarán al pasillo para su turno de visitar a Santa.

¡Será una noche maravillosa de diversión familiar navideña y una excelente manera de apoyar a nuestra PTA!

There have been a few concerns with drop off and pick up here at Wilson. Please use the designated drop-off and pick-up zones shown on the map above. For everyone’s safety, please do not drop students off in the middle of the road or in the crosswalk area. We have noticed vehicles stopping in these areas, which causes traffic backups and creates safety concerns for students. Please use the pull-through lane for drop-off, or park in a marked parking spot so your child can safely walk to the building.

Additionally, please remember that the bus zone on the northwest side of the school must remain clear at all times. We have three buses that drop off and pick up students there each day, and it’s important to keep those areas open. Thank you for your continued support in keeping all of our students safe!

Ha habido algunas preocupaciones con la llegada y la salida de los estudiantes aquí en Wilson. Por favor, utilicen las zonas designadas para dejar y recoger a los estudiantes que se muestran en el mapa de arriba. Para la seguridad de todos, les pedimos que no dejen a los estudiantes en medio de la calle ni en el área del cruce peatonal. Hemos notado que algunos vehículos se detienen en esas áreas, lo que causa congestión de tráfico y genera preocupaciones de seguridad para los estudiantes. Por favor, usen el carril de paso para dejar a los estudiantes o estacionen su vehículo en un lugar marcado para que su hijo(a) pueda caminar con seguridad hasta el edificio.

Además, recuerden que la zona de autobuses en el lado noroeste de la escuela debe mantenerse despejada en todo momento. Tenemos tres autobuses que dejan y recogen estudiantes allí cada día, y es importante mantener esas áreas libres. ¡Gracias por su continuo apoyo para mantener seguros a todos nuestros estudiantes!
