Message from the Principal Message from the Principal

Dear Nativity Families,

I hope you are enjoying this day with your children while our faculty and staff are engaged in our annual Diocesan Convocation at Mater Dei High School. It has been a wonderful day of learning and reflection with Catholic educators from throughout our diocese. We were blessed to learn from our keynote speaker, Dr. Antonio Felix, Associate Dean of Student Services in the School of Education at Loyola Marymount University. Dr. Felix spoke about the importance of relationships with our students and the responsibility we have as Catholic educators to build up each child. His message was a beautiful reminder that the heart of Catholic education is not simply what we teach, but how we form the whole child. We concluded our time together by celebrating Mass with Bishop Pham and teachers and principals from across the diocese. We are grateful for the opportunity to step away from our daily routines, renew our sense of purpose, and return to campus with a deeper appreciation for our mission.

As we enter the final stretch of our Star Campaign, we are grateful to the 53 families who have already generously contributed to support our school’s operating budget. If your family has not yet made a contribution, we encourage you to do so this week. Every gift matters and moves us forward towards our 100% participation goal. We have some fun plans in place to celebrate the classes that reach full participation, so please don’t delay in submitting your family’s pledge by October 2. Every gift, regardless of size, is an expression of your commitment to our school and to the mission we share.

This upcoming week is a week of firsts at Nativity! We will celebrate our first WOW Wednesday, complete with a hot dog lunch and free dress. Our first round of parent conferences begins this Friday, October 2. If you have not yet signed up for your child(ren)’s conference, please be sure to do so. Our teachers are looking forward to connecting with each of you and will be reaching out to families who have not yet scheduled a time.

Our School Family Mass is this Saturday, October 3, at 5:00 p.m. We hope you will join us as a school community to celebrate the Eucharist together.

We will welcome our 6th and 7th graders back to campus later today from AstroCamp and Catalina Island. We are grateful for the exciting learning experiences they have enjoyed and, most importantly, for their safe return home.

Have a wonderful weekend with your families. May it be a time of rest and joy. We look forward to seeing everyone at our Monday morning assembly, hosted by our first-grade class.

With gratitude,

Brittany Bateman

NEW SCHOOL VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

Thank you to those who have both completed and started the process to fulfill the requirements for volunteering. We couldn't do all the wonderful things we do for your children without the contribution of your time and talents.

Many of you completed your Live Scan, but there is still more to do. The CMG training(s) need to be completed online before your Live Scan can be added to your training record to complete your certification with the Diocese. The Mandated Reporter Training must be completed as well.

Please click HERE for the links to the volunteer requirements for The Nativity School.
