First, let me thank all of our families who have joined and donated to PTA so far and to everyone who came out to our Baskin Robbins fundraiser. We're off to a great start! Here's what's next:

WHERE: Boggess Gym
WHAT: Dads and male role models (grandfathers, uncles, adult brothers, and more) who are WatchDOGS (Dads of Great Students) get to spend an entire day volunteering at school and mentoring students. Come learn more and sign up for your day of WatchDOGS duty. Free pizza dinner provided for WatchDOGS and their students who RSVPed by August 23.

WHAT: Our amazing Boggess staff is hosting the school's very first Grandparents Day parade. The parade is happening in lieu of an assembly this year.

WHAT: The Texas Chess Center is excited to offer a fun and friendly after school chess program for students. Each session includes 30 minutes of easy-to-follow lessons and 30 minutes of exciting supervised play. Classes are perfect for beginners, helping your child learn the basics of chess, improve their thinking skills, and have a blast while playing.
DATES: Wednesdays, August 28-October 9 (7 sessions)
TIME: 3:00-4:15 p.m.
COST: $145 per student

🚩🚩 WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!!! We will need 3-4 parent volunteers to help from 2:50-4:25 p.m. on Wednesdays from August 28 - October 9 (7 sessions). Parent volunteers will help get registered students to the program from their classrooms, help supervise during the class, and assist with dismissal. All volunteers must have a current, completed background check in Voly. If you would like to volunteer, please email Katie Tsai at programs@boggesspta.org
The first 4 volunteers who sign up for the entire 7 weeks will receive free tuition for one student.
We are searching for room parents, and we want you! Room parents help with things like:
- Helping plan, coordinate, and conduct grade level class parties, alongside the PTA grade coordinators.
- Helping with PTA events such as Fall Carnival as needed.
- Serving as a liaison between teacher’s needs and parent volunteers.
- Assisting teachers with projects required for the classroom (cutting, laminating, sorting, counting, etc.). This is usually done on a daily or weekly rotation basis through the classes. The room parent does not necessarily have to complete this work; however, he/she is responsible for scheduling parents in the class to get the work done on the day(s) that their class is assigned.

Benny is looking for a good friend to share some of the events he attends! We have one parent "assistant," but would love one or two more energetic people willing to have fun and interact with the students. Some of the opportunities to appear with Benny include Grandparents Day, Veterans Day, assemblies, Fun Run, Fall Carnival, Friday morning carpool, and Book Fair & PJ Night.
