HALLOWEEN CELEBRATIONS
Halloween celebrations will be Friday, October 30th. We will have an outside parade that will begin at approximately 1:45 pm on the blacktop behind the school. We will have the blacktop lined with cones for families to stand outside of. We run the parade by grade levels: Kindergarten leads the way, ending with fifth grade. When they return inside the building they will have their classroom celebrations.
Costume guidelines: Students are allowed to come to school dressed in their costumes provided they are able to do all school activities. The following guidelines should be followed:
No inflatables until the parade. If a student has an inflatable costume they will not be able to wear that until the parade. They will need to let their teacher know that they need to put their costume on. They will need to deflate their inflatable during the party celebration, as the rooms are not big enough for students to maneuver around.
Please do not send your child in full face make-up, as they will be engaging in learning throughout the rest of their school day.
Please remember that students are not allowed to bring replicas of weapons as part of their costumes. We also ask that students tone down anything that might scare our younger students (blood, etc.).
Costume masks will be allowed for the parade, but not during the classroom parties. Masks must be school appropriate.
If a child does not want to wear their costume to school and wants to change prior to the parade that is okay as well. Students can also wear Wild Rose spirit wear if they don't want to dress up.
Just a reminder that food is not allowed for parties. Please do not send in treats for your child to pass out.
PICTURE DAY IS COMING
Retake Picture Day is coming up on:
Wednesday, Nov 4.
If you're satisfied with your child's picture, no further action is required.
If you purchased and were unhappy with your Picture Package, please send your Picture Package to school with your student on Retake Day. Your Retake Picture Package will be produced and shipped to the school four weeks after Retake Day. Please note, if your child is photographed on the original and Retake Picture Days, the Retake picture will replace the original picture in certain products, like the yearbook.
Students who were absent for Picture Day should come to school prepared to have their picture taken. If you have not preordered, please use the Retake Order Code 0497BGD to place your order at https://inter-state.com/Order. To see your Order History, check your Inter-State Account.

VETERAN'S DAY ASSEMBLY
Veterans Day is right around the corner! We want to honor our Wild Rose community Veterans here at Wild Rose in multiple ways. We would like to invite Veterans and their Wild Rose connection/family to breakfast in the morning before school on November 11th. If you would like to bring your Veteran to Wild Rose please see the link below to RSVP. All RSVPs must be in by Monday, November 3rd, in order for us to plan accordingly.
We will also be having an assembly for students and staff in the afternoon of Veterans Day. Unfortunately we do not have the space to have our Veterans join us, which is why we hope we can honor our Veterans in person in the morning. However, we do create a slide show for our students and Veterans to view at both the breakfast and the assembly. Please fill out the form below to share information about your family's veteran to be honored, even if they are not able to be with us in person or if it is a Veteran that has passed away.

Thank you for your support and collaboration! We are looking forward to a wonderful day of honor and celebration.

This year, we will continue implementing the Second Step Child Protection Units to support Erin's Law. Below are the parent letters to provide you with more information. We plan to deliver these lessons in November and December.
October 2026
Dear Wild Rose School Families,
This letter is to inform you about Erin’s Law (Illinois Public Act 097-1147), an Illinois law passed in February, 2011 that requires public schools to provide child sexual abuse prevention education for all children in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grades. Named after sexual abuse survivor Erin Merryn, Erin’s Law will be implemented again this year in all District 303 Schools. Please note that Erin’s Law is not connected to The Keeping Youth Safe & Healthy Act (Senate Bill 818).
Between now and the end of the school year, several lessons will be facilitated by Amy Penar, school social worker, and Dr. Michael Clary, school psychologist, along with the classroom teacher utilizing the Second Step Child Protection Unit . This age-appropriate instruction will help students recognize unsafe situations, keep themselves safe, and learn how to respond to unsafe situations. Common themes across all grade levels include:
Identifying safe touch versus unsafe or unwanted touch
The Safety Rule About Touching (The Touching Rule): Private areas are not for others to touch, except to keep a child clean and healthy
Steps to Stay Safe
Understanding the difference between good and bad secret
For more information about Erin’s Law, please visit the links below.
For more information about the Second Step Child Protection Unit Scope and Sequence for grades pre-kindergarten-5th, please view the link below.

Octubre 2026

RECORDING ATTENDANCE IN ParentVUE
There are now 3 options available to report your childs's attendance. Instead of calling in or emailing your student's absence, you may choose to record the attendance in ParentVUE! This may prove easier for many and you are able to report a late arrival or early pick up as well. You do not need to report the absence on the attendance line and in ParentVUE. Just choose one!
If you prefer, the option to phone or email is still available. Please call 331-228-3000 to report absences and choose option "1" or email Sharon Flanigan at sharon.flanigan@d303.org
Messages can be left 24 hours a day.
Please leave your name, your child's name, your phone number, reason for absence and your child's symptoms, if ill.
If you have alerted your student's teacher of the absence by email, please copy in sharon.flanigan@d303.org as well to avoid an attendance verification call.
Please refer to Chapter 2 of the 2026-2027 Student Handbook for detailed district attendance policies and procedures. Click the button below for the handbook!
BIRTHDAYS AT WILD ROSE
We love to celebrate birthdays at Wild Rose. Your child’s birthday will be announced on our morning announcements or, Panther TV, when it is up and running. We have a Panther Paw Book VENDING MACHINE!!! Every student will receive a special token to choose a book for their birthday!
We do not allow food or other items to be brought in for birthday celebrations, so please do not send anything to school with your child.
Some of our classrooms have a tradition of inviting parents or other special guests on the day of the birthday to read a book. Classroom teachers will be sharing that information in their class newsletters.
We do allow a parent(s) or special adult in a student's life to come and have lunch with them. We do not allow other siblings to attend, and do limit visitors to a maximum of 2 adults. You are welcome to bring your student a special lunch. Please let the office know if you will be coming in to have a birthday lunch with your child.
