A note from Principal Ballard
Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well. As we move forward together this school year, I want to take a moment to share my gratitude for your partnership and support. Our students thrive when schools and families work hand in hand, and I am proud of the community we are building here at Winchester Avenue.
This year, we are focusing on:
1.Continuing to maintain PBIS system and positive climate/culture
2.Continuing positive interactions with students and families to increase attendance
3. Learning Communities- reviewing standard/data to support driven and student focused
4. Instruction- leading effective small groups
5. Student Engagement – strengthening relationships and structure in classrooms
Our dedicated staff is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where every child can succeed. We encourage you to stay involved in your child’s learning by attending school events, reviewing weekly updates, joining the PTO, or simply checking in with teachers. Together, we can make a powerful difference.Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any member of our staff if you have questions or ideas to share.
Warm regards,
Charity Ballard
Principal
Winchester Avenue Elementary School
Good Choices = Join in on the 9 weeks Reward
As students continue to grow and learn, we use nine weeks incentives to encourage great choices. The first nine weeks reward is a glow party. Students that make good choices, receive "Owl Bucks" and will also have a chance to participate in the glow party. Last year our students had a blast. We hope that families can encourage great choices at home and at school, so students may enjoy these nine weeks rewards.
We will not permit students with challenging behaviors to attend. Struggling students will participate in reteach; staff will reteach the expectations of Winchester Avenue.

Attendance Matters
Check the back of your child's folder, or pocket, when he/she is absent to update the Attendance Tracker. Please aim to send your child to school each day. If your child is not sick, please send them to school.
Regular school attendance matters, but if your student misses school, you can submit your student's absence online using the Parent Absence Note Form
WALKERS
We understand that older siblings may need to walk our kiddos home. Please be sure your child's teacher is aware of this arrangement. We have a new form to be completed by parents/guardians of students that are walked home by siblings that are under 18 years of age. Once the teacher is made aware, we will send home the form.
