More than a dozen Laney students recently had their short stories published in the Young Writers Association's Stranger Sagas and we have THREE copies here in the library for you to check out!! So come in today and see what your fellow classmates have been up to!

Thanks to the incredible support of Laney administration, the library just received a MASSIVE order of Spanish language books and bilingual titles to support our native Spanish speakers, as well as our students learning Spanish. This is a tremendous opportunity and a huge gift to our school, because it's been proven that when you can learn in your preferred language, you do better, and when you can reinforce what you're learning with something you're already familiar with (like reading Harry Potter in Spanish if you've already read it in English) it helps you strengthen your fluency.
Pending future funding, we hope to be able to offer similar books in other languages as well to meet the needs of our incredible student body.

Everyone loves a personality quiz .. but this one tells you what kind of reader you are based on how you respond to 24 made-up book synopses. Then, based on your results, it recommends books for you to try. Librarians have found that folks who have taken this quiz have actually ended up reading MORE because they've figured out the best genres for them and are spending more time reading books they know they'll like, instead of ones they may only get 20 pages into and decide they hate. So if you're in a reading rut, or just want a fun way to spend 10 minutes, take this quiz and find our what color reader you are!
