Academy Weekly Newsletter - 11/25
From The Academy at Sturgis Brown High School
Dear parents, guardians, and students,
**Every week a different Academy student will act as a student ambassador for the weekly newsletter. Their message will feature some information about the student, The Academy, and what happened throughout the week.**
My name is Christine Jordan. I'm a senior here at Sturgis Brown High School. I enjoy spending quality time with friends and family. When I graduate, I would like to attend cosmetology school. I've wanted to attend cosmetology school since my freshman year of high school.
This week we have worked on our genocide unit in English and reading the book Night by Elie Wiesel. We have also worked on creating lesson plans for our genocide unit. Today (starting in fourth period) we will be having our own Academy Thanksgiving Dinner! All the kids in The Academy want to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! We hope your holiday is filled with delicious food and the warmth of loved ones!
To me The Academy means a fresh start at school for those who are struggling to learn in a regular classroom. The Academy has helped so many students progress and grow as a student and a person. Most people who join The Academy graduate early or on time even if they are far behind when they enter The Academy! The Academy has given so many students the opportunity to get caught up and to show that they can get through school and continue to learn and eventually go to college!
Thank you to Lynn's Dakotamart for sponsoring the Thanksgiving Dinner!
