Superintendents Weekly Update

Dear PUSD Families,

Last night, the Board approved an update to our District Goals for the 2026-27 school year. Our three priorities—Student Success, Community Engagement, and Fiscal Responsibility—guide the work of our staff across all campuses and departments.

These priorities reflect commitments that matter to our families: helping every student learn and thrive, strengthening connections between our schools and community, and making responsible decisions about the resources entrusted to us. This year’s updates build on that foundation, refining the actions we will take and how we will measure our progress.

Student Success begins with what students experience each day in our classrooms. We are focused on strong instruction, support that responds to individual needs, and learning environments where students feel connected and valued. Looking closely at both academic progress and students’ sense of belonging helps us understand what is working and where we need to do more.

Community Engagement means making it easier for families to stay informed, ask questions, share ideas, and participate in their children’s education. We want our schools and district office to be welcoming and responsive, and we value the perspectives you bring. Your feedback helps us make better decisions and better support students.

Fiscal Responsibility supports all of this work. Careful planning for our facilities, thoughtful use of technology, and ongoing review of our programs and operations help us align our resources with students’ needs. It also means considering how the decisions we make today will affect our schools in the years ahead.

Setting goals is an important step; following through is the ongoing work. We will continue to review progress with the Board and share updates with our community throughout the year. I am grateful to our teachers, support staff, and school and district leaders for the daily work that brings these priorities to life.

Thank you for your partnership and for the many ways you support our students and schools. I hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend.

With gratitude,

Ben
