PBIS Review

This is a review week (Oct 14-21) in wellness. We will review all the areas we worked on. As struggles arise throughout the year our expectations are set and we will review them as necessary. You will see these expectations as the students bring home their PBIS books. Students in grades 2 and 3 have books with scenarios in them. Our younger students in grades K and 1 have little books about each of the areas. The Powers expectations are on the back of the little books. We encourage you to look at these books with them. We are grateful to have a team approach with PBIS working together with our parents to make each child succeed in school! If you have any questions please email me at michelle_tellier@amherstk12.org. What does Neurodivergent mean?

As we approach the end of the first quarter, we thought that this article might be useful. For those not familiar, Neurodivergent is a term used to describe people whose brains process information, learn, and behave in ways that are different from what is considered "typical". Neurodivergence is a way to describe the natural variation in how human brains develop and function.

Physical Education Class Update Physical Education Class Update

What is going on in GYM class?

In Physical Education we are currently working on throwing and catching skills along with maintaining and improving our Cardiorespiratory system by speed walking, jogging, and running. Students will be doing the Pacer running test in 2nd grade during the month of October, and again in April of 2025 to assess their expected improvement over the school year. Kindergarten and First grade will be doing a scaled down version of the Pacer test.

All students need to wear tennis shoes on PE days!!!

Arrival Reminders... Arrival Reminders...

Dropping Off after 8:50 AM.

If your child is a car rider in the morning, please remember that our school day starts at 8:50am. This means that students should be in their classroom ready to start their school day by 8:50am. After 8:50am, parents will need to pull around to the South side of the school to bring your child to the main office to sign them in as tardy. Please do not drop your child off at the side doors by the big playground after 8:50am. Thank you for supporting student safety.

South Parking Lot (off of South Lake Street)

Parents should not be dropping students off in the South Lake parking lot in the morning. This is reserved for parents with students that have special needs and have a parking permit and busses. We have had a lot of parents (and grandparents) dropping off students in the morning. If you are coming into the building for a meeting or to take care of business in the office you can always park here and enter the building through the main office. Please remind caretakers and grandparents as we believe some of these cars that are causing congestion for our busses are not aware of the expectations to use the PikMyKid parking lot on the other side of the building. Thanks for your help. Officer Gawlik and I will be handing out flyers with a reminder message in the South Lake parking lot this week during arrival this week.

Need an Interpreter? Need an Interpreter?

Please Help Us Help You!!!

If a parent/guardian requires an interpreter for a school event (meeting, conference, concert/, etc.), please contact your child's teacher with your request for interpreter support. It is most helpful to receive this request at least 1 week in advance so that we have time to honor that request and get the support in place for you or your family.
