Principal's Update
June 8, 2026
Good Morning Memorial Families,
We have made it to the last full week of school! Today we will celebrate our fourth graders as they wrap up their five years of elementary school. The fourth grade send off is always a wonderful day for our fourth graders, and the weather today will make their time at Kiwanis Beach even better.
Last week we were treated to so many wonderful events. Field Day was so much fun, and the addition of the Kona Ice truck was the cherry on top. Great thanks to Erin and Nick Valcourt and all of the parent volunteers who made this day happen. On Thursday we held our annual Inspired Learning Day. This year we immersed our students in learning opportunities where they could experience a career or job. We had students learn about engineering, nursing, photography, zoology, baking, sports management, firefighting, policing, and more. And finally, on Friday, author, singer, and songwriter Dennis Mathew joined us for the day and shared his love of music and storytelling with each grade level. Every child went home with his book, How Grizzly Found Gratitude, and Dennis signed every book. Thank you to the PTO for generously funding his visit.
This is the final newsletter for this school year. It always feels like this time of year happens upon us so quickly, but this year has especially flown by. Our kindergarteners will have their final day of school on Monday, June 15th so that our kindergarten teachers can welcome our incoming kindergarten class in for screenings on Tuesday and Wednesday. The final day of school for students in grades 1-4 will be next Wednesday, June 17th. It will be an early release. We have a long summer ahead. Due to Labor Day occurring later this year, the first day of school for all students, K-4, will be Wednesday, September 2nd. I have updated the calendar below with some fall events.
I wish everyone a wonderful last week and a half of school, and I hope you and your family enjoy the summer. Please note that the office staff will be on vacation beginning June 18th, returning on Monday, July 6th. I will be checking my email intermittently, but most emails will be responded to when I return to the office on the 6th.
Thank you for a wonderful year!
Warmly,
Wendy

Memorial Summer Send Off
The Memorial PTO is excited to invite you to our Annual Summer Send-Off on Friday, June 12, from 6-8pm on the field behind Memorial!
Come celebrate the end of another wonderful school year with an evening of fun, friends, and community. There will be plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy, including inflatables, lawn games, and face painting, and we will be giving out free snacks and water. As a special treat, every child will also receive a ticket for a free ice cream from the Sweet Wise Ice Cream Truck!
Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, outdoor games, and anything else you'd like to make the evening comfortable and fun. This is a great opportunity to relax, connect with other families, and kick off summer together. We hope to see you there!
