MESSAGE FROM THE VICE PRINCIPAL MESSAGE FROM THE VICE PRINCIPAL

Dear Franklin Students and Families,

There is one more week left to support Franklin and buy a wreath! The PTSA's wreath sale is their largest and longest-running fundraiser and all proceeds go towards critical FHS classroom materials. Please consider ordering a wreath or donating to help spread holiday cheer to families in need. Click here to purchase. All orders are due by Friday, October 31st. Thank you for your support and generosity!

We are already looking forward to Parent/Teacher conferences in November. Over the next few weeks, teachers will be reaching out to families to schedule priority conferences for students with academic or social/emotional needs in their classes. We are shifting conferences this year to allow for some intentional scheduling. Monday, conferences will have all staff in the gym building for an arena-style drop-in conference time with no appointment needed. Teachers will be available from 8:30am-7:45pm with a break for lunch from 12:00-1:00pm and a break for dinner from 4:30-5:30pm. On Tuesday, conferences will be held in the main building in person, or virtually, by appointment only. Teachers will have the next few weeks to schedule conferences before the rest of the appointment slots are released to families on Friday, November 14th.

As the parent of a college student and high school senior, this is my last conference opportunity for my kiddos. Please know that we value this opportunity to engage parents in their students' education. It is a privilege to work with Franklin students and families and we are excited to meet with you for conferences.

In Community,

Amy Gervais

Vice Principal

The Drowsy Chaperone

The Drowsy Chaperone is a meta-musical parody of 1920s musical comedies, where a musical theatre fan, the "Woman in Chair," listens to a record of a fictional 1928 show of the same name. As the music plays, the show comes to life in her apartment, featuring a young Broadway starlet Janet van de Graaff who wants to marry for love, her producer who needs her to stay in show business, her comically inebriated chaperone, a Latin lover, and gangsters. The audience experiences the 1920s musical through the Woman in Chair's commentary and reactions, which include observing its cliched plot, stock characters, and musical numbers, all while learning about the narrator's own melancholic life.

You have 6 chances to see the Franklin Theater Department's rendition of The Drowsy Chaperone:

  • Friday, November 7th at 7:00 pm
  • Saturday, November 8th at 7:00 pm
  • Sunday, November 9th at 2:00 pm
  • Thursday, November 13th at 7:00 pm
  • Friday, November 14th at 7:00 pm
  • Saturday, November 15th at 7:00 pm
