February at SPCL!

Did you know that this month is Black History Month, Lunar New Year, Ramadan, Lent, President's day, and Valentine's day all rolled into one? Not to mention that in the astrological world, we have a new moon eclipse (Feb. 17) and a planetary alignment (Feb. 28) on top of February being a perfect square of four weeks with four Mondays through Fridays! All that to say, it's a busy month here at Seward Park Campus Library, so come on by!

P.S. Want to know why we know about the stars aligning? Come check out our new Teen Witch collection!

Whether you're looking for a short read or a long one, visit our hand-curated collections to find something to fit your fancy. Here are our current displays!

Don't forget that our studio is available for reservation. We have a music recording studio in addition to our podcast recording studio. Use the form below or sign up at www.sewardparkcampuslibrary.org/studio.

Thanks to Lambda Literary, we will have our very first author book talk for teens! Author Mark Oshiro (they/them) will be joining us to talk about their 2023 book Into the Light. Twenty one lucky readers will get a free copy of the book, and a chance to meet Mark, ask them about their book and writing, and get their books signed! Stop by the library to be a lucky one!

We are continuing our community partnership with City Lore and our teaching artist, Rawya El Chab! Our interns have been doing research on the history of Seward Park Campus and the surrounding Lower East Side investigating questions of who gets to decide boundaries and borders, what was gained and lost when Seward Park High School became a campus, and how do we leave our legacy? We have been mapping the area and the building and digging into the vault for old yearbooks. If you have any special Seward Park Campus history tidbits, stop by and share them with us!

We have officially finished our ordering for the year, and all but one shipment of books are in! That means we have added over 700 books to our collection since September! Shout out to Seward Park Campus because you have checked out 1692 books from our collection since then, too! Swing by and check out our new arrivals section for new fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, manga, poetry, and Spanish-language books! Also, if you missed out on the ordering this year, never fear. I have started my lists for next year, so please submit your titles below!

We continue to have a robust partnership with Yu&Me Books and have already celebrated four great programs with them this current school year. Save the following dates for the upcoming spring events which will all be hosted here at Seward Park Campus! Register below!
