October 10th
Happy Friday!
Dear HMS Families,
We had the BEST time last week celebrating our first spirit week, which ended with our annual volleyball-a-thon. The positive energy could be felt all over campus that night! We had over 230 kids participate (29 teams) and over 40 parents helping us chaperone! This event has gotten better every single year and it just brings a smile to our faces thinking about how awesome it was! We have never hosted that many teams and students before. We are only able to do this because our kids and families are amazing!
The positive energy of volleyball-a-thon carried us through this week and it sure went by really fast! We hope you all have a wonderful three day weekend!
With Kindness,
Bess & Sid
A Message from our Student Leaders...
We are thrilled that our leadership students have asked to be able to provide a write up about what they are working on to build community at HMS. You can look for this addition in all of our future newsletters!
Hello families! Our leadership team planned our very first spirit week and pep assembly last week! All the grades did so well dressing up and our winning grade was 8th grade. We also had our volleyball-athon on October 3rd that everyone had so much fun at! Currently we are working on our assembly and spirit day for unity day that is coming up on October 15th. The leadership team is hoping to see lots of orange from all 3 grades on this day! We also cannot wait to plan the school social coming later this fall! We are going to try very hard to make it an enjoyable night for everyone!
Unity Day - October 15th
On Wednesday, October 15th, we are going to be celebrating Unity Day. On this day, we are encouraging all of our students to wear orange to celebrate with us. Our leadership students will be greeting students in the morning and we will have some photo opportunities for students to participate in. We are also really excited to be welcoming James Layman, director of the Association of Washington Student Leaders, for the second year to share a positive message with all of us. It's going to be a fun day!
Community Tour - October 22nd
We are excited to be hosting our annual fall Hockinson School District tour! The tour visits HHES, HMS and HHS and learns about each school site. If you are able, we would love it if you could help us meet our goal! Please follow the link below to register!
