Dear Cedar Grove Families:

Thank you to all of our families who attended Back to School Night last night.We love being able to give our community the opportunity to visit the classroom, speak with your child’s teacher and give feedback to make Cedar Grove the best school for all of our students. Saturday School begins September 26 at various locations, including Clarksburg High School! Students can explore exciting courses such as robotics, coding, or focus on strengthening their math and reading skills. It's a great opportunity for enrichment and academic support. Fan Friday started TODAY Friday, September 11 and will last for 10 weeks, ending on November 20. Fan Friday is designed to bring everyone together as a team, to have fun, and to show good sportsmanship. Students can wear any kind of sports jersey every Friday (football, baseball, soccer, etc.). If students don't have a sports shirt, they may make one from an old T-shirt as long as they get permission from their parents. Please contact Mr. Jansson if you have any questions or need any more details.

We are excited to share that a series of community engagement sessions for the new Damascus High School Capital Improvement Project (CIP) is coming this fall! As planning continues, stakeholder feedback remains vital to our progress. MCPS Central Services invites all staff, families, and community members to join us to review project updates, ask questions, and share input.

Upcoming Community Engagement Meetings

• Meeting #2: Monday, October 26 | 6:00 p.m. (DHS Cafeteria)

Girls on the Run is back this fall, and registration is now open to girls in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. Meeting days will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00- 5:15 with the first practice starting September 27. As always, here is your updated Media Monthly. We've had a busy four day week! That's because classes are always invited to reschedule their media time when we have a day off! I also hope you had an opportunity to stop by the various media tables during Back to School Night! I'm always happy to meet our grownups! We're ready to begin our Daily News recordings. We've had two meetings this week, and we will record our first show on Monday morning. Our first Fan Friday was today; we'll have them every Friday until November 20, when we "play" our "championship game." I have resent invitations to the Virtual Media Center for our Kindergartners and our new students. Please have them log into their student account and accept the invitation to be part of this site or, if your student did not receive an invitation, please contact me and I will send out the invitation for your student.
