A Letter from Mr. Savage
On behalf of the entire Valley Heights staff I would like to welcome all of you back for another exciting year for the Mustangs! We are looking forward to working with you to make the 2023-2024 school year a positive experience for everyone! Our hope is that everyone had the chance to have some fun and really enjoy their summer break. A special welcome goes out to our 7th grade students as they take their next steps in their educational journey in the hallways of Valley Heights!
I have always said that the school never really rests during summer break and this was certainly true this year at Valley Heights Jr./Sr. High School. We have had students and sponsors attending a variety of camps and state and national events where they gained knowledge, skills and lifetime memories. Our summer weight program and workout opportunities were well attended as our Mustangs prepared for the upcoming 2023-2024 athletic season. It has been fun to visit with our students about their experiences and how excited they are to share their ideas with their respective organizations.
A new feature for our district will be this electronic newsletter that will be updated and sent out weekly. We are looking at this as an opportunity to communicate with our parents and our communities the many great things that are happening in our district. We will be sharing pictures of student activities, news from our classrooms and organizations and a calendar of events to mention just a few of things you will find in the newsletter.
As usual, we will start the school year running! We will host our JH and HS Fall Sports Parent meetings on August 8th with the first practices starting on August 14th! Mustang Spirit Night is scheduled for August 20th. This night is an opportunity to meet the Mustangs and our coaches as well has have some fun, replenish your Mustang apparel for the season and just have some fun!
I am looking forward to meeting all of you and getting to know all of our parents and community members that support our efforts here at Valley Heights. Together, we can accomplish great things!

A little about me:
My name is Ryan Ehrlich. I grew up outside of Rossville, Kansas. I attended Kansas State University and graduated with a Construction Science & Management degree in 2021. Shortly afterwards I began a transition-to-teach program and graduated with a Master of Arts of Teaching from K-State last spring. I am continuing my education to acquire full licensure in special education. I will also be the new head golf coach this spring. My wife, Emily, and I have been lifelong K-State fans. You may catch us cheering on the cats in Manhattan this football season! This year we are excited to bring along our four month old son, Henry, to all of the home games.
I look forward to beginning my teaching career at Valley Heights.
