Dismissal Information- Everyone Please Read
Over the last couple of months, we have been reviewing our dismissal procedures in an effort to be efficient, keep students safe, and work withing the contractual time of our staff members. We will be making some changes starting Tuesday and we need your help, please.
Changes in Dismissal
We strongly discourage changes in dismissal plans. It requires several steps in communication to be sure everyone is in the know for one child and we have 334 students to account for. If you have an emergency and must call the office to change your child's plan, please do so by 11:00am.
Car Pick-up- everyone should read in case you need to use car pick-up at some point
Every day, please put a placard with at least your child's name on your driver's side dashboard. Below is a template for one, but honestly, it can be the name written on the back of an envelope...it will make the car line run more quickly and efficiently if Mr. Baum can just walk down the line and read off names. If you do not have your child's name up, Mr. Baum will be asking you to loop back around.
Buses
We are changing how students are dismissed from their class to line up for the bus starting Tuesday, 12/10. I will gather bus students on the big stairs to review the changes. During that time, I will review behavior expectations for while they wait to load as well as behavior expectations on the bus. While we adjust to the new practice, buses may be delayed by a few minutes. I apologize for any inconvenience.
Walkers will continue to be dismissed from the same cafeteria door.
Thank you for your partnership in helping school procedures to be efficient, safe, and operating within staff contracts.
Let's Fill A Cruiser!!
We are partnering with SSREC (South Shore Regional Emergency Center) to fill a police cruiser with toys for children in our broader community. We will have a Cohasset PD cruiser in our lot on Wednesday, December 11, for students to come check out with their classes. If your family would like to offer an unwrapped toy, please have them bring it on that day and we will fill that cruiser with toys! Whether children bring a donation or not, they will get to take part in checking out the police cruiser.
Town Meeting and Community Forums
Did you catch Superintendent Shannon's newsletter (linked here). There are a couple of very important topics addressed in her newsletter that directly affect the Osgood community.
- There is a special town meeting on Tuesday, December 9 at 7:00pm in the CHS gym. There are several school-related considerations, including a roof project at the Osgood.
- There are 2 dates for additional community forums related to the MSBA application for a new middle and high school, which, if accepted in the next couple of years, could be where our current students attend.
Please do take a look at Superintendent Shannon's newsletter for more information about these topics as well as others.
Osgood Holiday Gift Boutique- a note from the PSO
Thursday, December 12th 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. in the Osgood Cafeteria
We are so excited to be able to bring the Holiday Boutique back this year! Your child(ren) will bring their shopping list home tomorrow. This comes with them to the event on Thursday! If you would like to contribute a monetary gift to keep the event going, please donate to sponsor great items like mugs, pet gifts or children's toys!
Venmo @CohassetPSO or PayPal
Please write "Holiday Boutique" in the memo line
If you haven’t signed up for a slot yet please do so here https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/10C0D4FA4A72BA1F4C16-53546141-osgood
What is the Osgood Holiday Gift Boutique?
The Holiday Gift Boutique was created to give Osgood students (yes, pre-K too!) the chance to experience holiday shopping and the magic of giving! Your child will be able to shop for 5 people (please no more than 5 as to allow every student to be able to participate!). Your child can bring their list with them along with a quarter for each gift. A high school volunteer will shop with your child and help him/her wrap the gifts.
How can I help support the event?
As always, the Osgood PSO welcomes your support in making this event special for all our students.
Monetary Donations:
All items for the shop have been purchased, however, if you would like to make a monetary donation, you can visit the sign-up genius here:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4FA4A72BA1F4C16-53241822-donations
Thank you in advance for your generous donations!
Volunteering your time:
We are in need of a few parents to help with set-up, shopping, and clean-up! If you would like to be a part of this fun event, please sign up via a sign-up genius that will be sent out in early December.
What do I do while my child is shopping?
While students are shopping, families and caregivers will wait in the hallway outside the cafeteria. Festive raffles as well as Cohasset merchandise (sweatshirts, sweatpants, hats, etc.) will be available in the hallway for all your holiday shopping needs! Also, if you want to order in advance, you can order through the PSO store, www.cohassetpso.org/shop, and then pick up your items that day.
If you have any questions, please contact Katie Lubitz at kcpowell2@gmail.com or Tiffany Doyle at tiffpopoli@gmail.com.
Thank you for your support! We are very excited to continue this annual tradition!
Safe Snack List
Please pack your child's snack separate from their lunch.
Transportation
For information regarding school transportation, please visit the transportation page on the new CPS website. All students must be registered through transportation to ride the bus. However, buses are full at this time and they are placing students on wait lists.
