Family Update

Our second round of Family Conferences will be held on September 27th from 4:15-7:45. You can sign up for a conference with your student's teacher using this link.

Our counseling team has been working hard to help students understand different careers and exploring those options! Please encourage your students to see their "Class of (2028, 2029, 2030)" Google Classroom for weekly career exploration links, along with opportunities throughout the year to hear from professionals in the field. We encourage conversations at home about their future plans.

A HUGE Thank you to those who provided support for our teachers through donations to the PTO for our parent teacher conference dinner.

We will hold open gyms at West on Monday's, Wednesday's and Thursday's from 5:45-7:00. Students are not permitted to stay after school until open gym begins.

Students are not permitted to have food delivered to GMSW from UBER eats, Grubhub, Door Dash, etc. These delivery drivers will not be permitted to enter the building to deliver food, and our office staff will not accept the deliveries

If you are dropping your student off in the morning please use the parking lot near the football field. The parking lot shared with Chappelfield Elem is for bus drop off only.

On May 11, 2023, the federal government declared the COVID-19 public health emergency to be over. In this light, Franklin County Public Health has rescinded the Franklin County COVID-19 public health emergency. This update ended school districts’ obligation to contact trace and report COVID positive cases within the community.

FCPH and CDC guidance remains as follows: “After testing positive, you should stay home for 5 days regardless of vaccination status. After 5 days, you may end isolation if you are fever-free for 24 hours (without use of fever-reducing medicine) AND your symptoms are improving.”

A reminder that students may only use phones and earbuds before and after school, outside the building, but all must be turned off, removed, and put in the student’s locker before entry. During the day, cell phones must be off/put away. No devices will be allowed during class changes, lunch, recess, and bathroom breaks.
