Cliff's Notes
Dear Bedford Public Schools Community,
At next week's school committee meeting on Tuesday, November 25th, I will share the preliminary FY27 budget proposal as a starting point for important community conversations. The FY27 budget reflects a pivotal moment for our district—one that balances our deep commitment to our educators with our responsibility to sustain a high-quality learning experience for every student. We must determine how to close a projected budget gap (level to be determined by the School Committee) while preserving the excellence of our school system and our commitment to our strategic plan. Our approach will be rooted in empathy for educators who shape students’ lives and respect for the community whose investment makes their work possible. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we work to address this challenge together.
Best,
Cliff Chuang 莊 宏 毅
Superintendent, Bedford Public Schools

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has selected Bedford Public Schools for a District Review. This review is conducted by DESE’s Office of District Reviews and Monitoring (ODRM), in partnership with the American Institutes for Research (AIR). Only a small number of districts are selected each year. A key part of the review is gathering input from families via a virtual Family Focus Group. If you would like to join the focus group schedule for 6 pm on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, please complete this Family Focus Group Interest Form. Interpretation and translation services will be available upon request. More information about the district review process can be found here.
If you haven't already done so, please complete the BPS School Climate Surveys no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24th. This survey is a key tool in advancing Bedford’s 2024–2027 Strategic Plan (see strategic initiative 2.3). Staff, families, and students grades 3-12 will participate. Full instructions and links to take the surveys can be found at BPS School Climate Surveys. We deeply value your partnership and look forward to using this feedback to build even stronger, more inclusive schools. Questions can be directed to Assistant Superintendent Dr. Kelly Williamson: kelly_williamson@bedfordps.org.
Take a break before the Thanksgiving cooking marathon! Join us at Ken’s NY Deli on Tuesday, November 25, from 4–9 p.m. for a Bedford Dollars for Scholars Benefit Night. Dine in or order take-out, either way, you’ll help support scholarships for Bedford High School students. "The Dollars for Scholars scholarship that I received helped ease the burden on my family, who were putting two children through college at the same time." ~ Nicole (Coco) Steele, Bedford High School Class of 2023, Clark University Class of 2027, Chemistry and Molecular Biology Major. Your participation helps make college dreams possible for future Bedford graduates!
