US News and World Report: LCMS Ranked in the Top 35% of Middle Schools in PA
A Message from the Superintendent
Dear CSD Community:
On behalf of Centennial School District, I am thrilled to share that we were informed that in the recently released 2025 U.S. News & World Report rankings, Log College Middle School is ranked among the top 35% of middle schools in Pennsylvania. This prestigious distinction places the school in the U.S. News Best Middle Schools category, a recognition that underscores the outstanding educational experience Log College Middle School provides its students.
The U.S. News Best Middle Schools rankings are based on several key factors, including academic performance, student-to-teacher ratios, and state math and English language arts assessments. Log College Middle School's placement among the top 35% of schools statewide reflects its commitment to fostering academic excellence, promoting student engagement, and providing a well-rounded education for all its learners.
The U.S. News rankings help parents, guardians, students, and educators assess how well schools prepare students for high school and beyond. They are based on data from the U.S. Department of Education, state-level assessment results, and other factors contributing to student success.
Log College Middle School's ranking reflects the district's and school's ongoing focus on continuous improvement, social-emotional growth, and preparation for future academic challenges. CSD and the school continue to offer a wide range of programs and initiatives to support student success, including specialized support services, extracurricular opportunities, and a dedicated team of administrators, faculty, and staff who work tirelessly to ensure every student's potential is reached. This achievement is also a testament to our community support of our schools and our students' continued classroom efforts.
With sincere gratitude,
Dana T. Bedden, Ed.D., CAA
Superintendent of Schools

Chief Science Officer
On Tuesday, November 12, the Centennial Chief Science Officers attended their fall cabinet meeting at the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center in Doylestown, PA. Students were actively engaged in learning about biotechnology as they worked within the lab setting to explore a process called “bacterial transformation.” In this process, bacteria samples take in foreign DNA samples and replicate copies of them. Following their lab experience, students were provided with a tour of the Biotechnology center, and they learned about the work being completed by each of the scientists in the center. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about what it is like to work in the field of biotechnology and speak with scientists that helped with the development of medications that are now available in the market. The day ended with the students working on and presenting their action plans to the Bucks County Cabinet.

7th Grade ELA
Mrs. Amate’s students finished their unit on personal narratives by applying different techniques that published writers use in order to revise their own personal narratives. One technique was experimenting with different types of leads for the beginning of their story in order to find one that best built suspense for their incident. We hope that these leads hook you!
Action Leads:
Suddenly I looked in the air and burning lights plunged into my eyes going every direction possible, as if the lights wanted me to see everything. Finally when my eyes adjusted I could see my surroundings. It didn't take me long to realize I was in the hospital. (Auden T.)
My body was thrown to the ground, the force of the impact rippled through my body in a single powerful blow. The whole world was spinning. One second I was on the swing, the next I was on the ground flat on my back, blankly staring into the endless sky…. (Rebecca F.)
So there it was. My chance to beat him. My chance to prove that I was the best, until it happened. We were battling the whole time going shoulder to shoulder, nudging each other back and forth, waiting for someone to back out. Until he finally got the best of me…. (Alex J.)
I felt the purple and blue butterflies flying up in my little throat, my head was aching like sitting in the loud cafeteria at school during lunch when the kids are screaming. All the nerves made me second guess if I really wanted to quit but I knew that I needed to. (Samantha P.)
Dialogue Lead:
“How are we going to tell her?” my mom said.
“I don’t know but we need to figure something out,” my dad said.
“She is going to be so sad when she finds out,” my mom said. (Maiia M.)
Reaction Leads:
Everybody wants to have a friend who would be their rock and other half every day. They would always be there for them even through the hardest and toughest things and they would do the same. This story is about how I met a true and real friend that is all of those things and more. (Hunter G.)
Being a dumb 8 year old can be regretful. This story is for all the younger kids who let their intrusive thoughts take over. My story has taught me a life long lesson and made me rethink my decisions before I do my actions. (Alyssa R.U.)
Academic Literacy
Students in Academic Literacy courses have access to new resources: Sonday, 95% Group Blueprint for Comprehension, and Read Naturally Live. The Sonday System is based on the Orton-Gillingham Approach, which teaches students how to read and spell. This program provides in-depth instruction about the structure of the English language. The 95% Blueprint for Comprehension consists of materials used for teaching comprehension processes. Teachers model with “think-alouds” and guide students in their application. Read Naturally Live is a web-based platform that helps develop fluency and supports vocabulary and comprehension. The new resources are helpful in addressing the specific skills and learning needs of each student.
Math with Mr. Prusinowski
Mr. Prusinowski's Pre-Algebra class has just begun their journey into Algebra. Currently, students are working through a unit entitled "The Tools of Algebra" which teaches students the fundamentals of algebraic thinking. The topics of this unit include:
1. Understanding and Defining a Variable
2. PEMDAS: The Order of Operations
3. Evaluating Algebraic Expressions via substitution
4. Combining Like Terms
5. Distributive Property
Students are currently working on #2 - PEMDAS. Students took a quiz to prove their knowledge and did fantastic work. Mr. Prusinowski could not be more proud of their work and effort!
Students of the Month
Every month, teachers on each team highlight students by selecting them as 'Students of the Month.' The students who are selected set the bar high and exemplify the traits of scholarship, cooperation, kindness, and hard work among others. Congratulations to Robert W., Aubrey H., Savannah F., Henry C., Nick D., Isabella K., Tommy Q., Stella M. Hannah W., Cole G., Alyssa T., and Avranzeb R. for being selected as October’s students of the month. Keep up the great work!
PBIS Random Drawing
Every month, the PBIS team holds a random drawing for any student that earned a 200 Club ticket that month. The winning student gets to select a prize just like the students who are in a row of 10 when the board hits. The lucky winner for October is 6th grader Liam P. Congratulations to Liam, and remember to Live Safely, Own Responsibility, and Give Respect!
FCS Baking Club

One Book, One School
Wednesday Wars
Log College will be launching its "One Book One School" initiative this Wednesday, the 20th. We have selected "Wednesday Wars" as our book for this program. Through Social Studies classes, students will engage in various activities and discussions centered around this wonderful story. We anticipate reading the book together until Winter Break.
“Wednesday Wars,” written by Gary D. Schmidt is a story that follows a seventh-grader named Holling Hoodhood, who believes he is the only student in his class not to be assigned to a school on Wednesday afternoons. Instead of spending this time with his classmates, Holling's teacher, Mrs. Baker, takes him for weekly lessons in Shakespeare. As the school year progresses, Holling navigates the challenges of adolescence, friendship, and family while discovering the relevance of Shakespeare's plays to his own life. Set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War, the novel explores themes of growing up, social conflict, and self-discovery.
We invite parents, guardians, and the entire school community to join us on this literary journey.
We look forward to the collective conversations and reflections that will undoubtedly arise.
Happy reading!
