Principal's Message Principal's Message

Hello, Families,

Report cards are coming home today. Please sign and return the envelope to your child's teacher as we will be using those again for your child's next report card. You can also access the digital version through Infinite Campus. Our students and teachers have been hard at work these last nine weeks! 👏

Classroom fall parties are at the end of the day Friday, October 31st. Please see your child's teacher's communication for your party details.

Information for All Goshen Lane Students:

  • To ensure a fun and safe day for everyone, please help your child follow these school-wide Costume Guidelines:
    • Wearing a costume is optional. Students who choose to wear a costume should already be dressed in costume when they come to school.
    • Costumes must be school-appropriate — nothing scary/gory, no weapon-like props, and modest coverage of the body.
    • Pieces/Accessories like hats should come to school in a book bag and can be worn during the party.
    • No face paint
    • Staff will monitor costumes, and adjustments will may be made if necessary.

This Week's Question Around the Dinner Table:

  • What is one part of your report card that you are proud of?

Have a great weekend,

Sharon Suriano

Principal

Chronic Absentee Emails Chronic Absentee Emails

This afternoon, Friday, October 24th, you may receive an email letter informing you that your student is at-risk of being chronically absent. The State of Ohio passed a bill regarding attendance and how schools need to communicate that with families. We are required to notify you if your student has missed 6% of the school year (currently 2.5 days) and is at risk for being chronically absent. If you receive this letter, do not panic, just know that your student has hit the threshold set by the State of Ohio. Please have your student attend school any day that they are not sick.

Visual & Performing Arts Gifted Education Identification

Each year, school districts in Ohio are required to offer an opportunity for students in grades K-12 to be identified as gifted in the area of Visual and Performing Arts. The identified areas of giftedness for Visual and Performing Arts include Visual Arts, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Drama/Theater, and Dance. If you know of a student that may be gifted in an area of the Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) learn more about the identification process.
