FAQs

Q. Is keto damaging to kidneys?

A. Healthy keto with Whole Foods has no contraindication with kidney health.

Q. Are there any recommended changes based on cycles?

A. I would say during the luteal phase (15-28) as progesterone rises & estrogen drops, when PMS can begin and some women start to have bloating and cravings (especially for carbs), especially the mood swings. They may consider adding carbs (like sweet potato or berries) this can raise serotonin levels and reduce cravings but also they may decide during this phase to leave a stricter ketosis and just go more basic low carbohydrate.

Q. Any advice regarding diets for autistic children?

A. There was a great study from 2018 and it’s filled with references but I don’t have it on my phone, but I have referred to it many times that used keto to help improve social responsiveness, decrease repetitive behaviors, they saw changes in communication, attention, hyperactivity and cognition by being on a modified ketogenic diet with MCT oil. The kids were on the diet for 3–6 months and 1/2 of kids showed improvements. But for anything on the ASD, the parent has to remove all food dyes and heavy metals. I recommend doing a full chelation for heavy metals with zeolite also.
