Why are you being asked to complete the Household Data Form?
New in 2021-2022, all RISD students can receive one breakfast meal and one lunch meal daily throughout the school year for free. So if students get to eat for free, why would RISD be required to collect and report a student's socioeconomic status? Texas Education Agency requires RISD to collect socioeconomic status for purposes of annual state accountability ratings and for federal reporting tied to federal funding.
Parents of enrolled students are requested to complete the form at the link below for those purposes. The income information requested on this form is completely confidential, it is not shared with any entity outside of RISD, and is solely used to determine the socioeconomic status of RISD students. Only a student’s potential economically disadvantaged status, as determined by the information provided on this form, is reported to the Texas Education Agency, and TEA maintains that information as confidential. RISD practices are in accordance with the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA). Additional information regarding PPRA can be found in the RISD Student And Parent Guidebook.
Benefits of completing the form for students and their schools
It is very important that RISD families complete this Household Family Data in order for RISD students and schools to receive student fee waivers, Title I and State Compensatory Education funding. If eligible, this funding directly benefits your child and their school.
· Students benefit through access to fee waivers towards the cost of Advanced Placement (AP)/SAT/ACT exams, tuition cost for UT OnRamps courses, college and NCAA application fees, and free SAT/ACT exam preparatory classes through our partnership with SMU.
· Your child's school benefit through additional employees, and resources like tutoring services, additional technology, and professional training for teachers at your child’s school.
RISD wants to continue to provide these important learning supports at our eligible schools, but that is dependent on parent/guardian assistance through completion of this form. Only one survey needs to be completed per family.
Thank you completing this survey and supporting the students of RISD!
