Principal’s Message
We made it! The end of the school year has arrived and summer is upon us! With the exception of a few very hot days, it seems we are getting more rain than sunshine. Hopefully mother nature will find some balance and we will all be able to enjoy some warm weather in the coming weeks.
We would like to thank Miss deHoog for her short time with us. She will not be returning to Forestburg School in the fall. We would also like to thank Rkaelyn Volk for her dedication to working with our students. We would like to also thank Mrs. Freadrich for her time and dedication to our students. As well, I’m sure you are aware that I will not be back in Forestburg in the fall. I have enjoyed my time in Forestburg and will miss the many smiling faces each day.
To update everyone on our current staffing, we are pleased to welcome Miss Leah Peters to the staff of Forestburg School for the start of the 2026/2027 school year. She will teach the first 2 periods in jr./sr. high at Forestburg School each day and will travel to Daysland for the rest of her day. As well, we are still in the process of filling our most recent allocation of teacher fte (0.3 fte). Once filled, this teacher will teach ELA 3 each day in the mornings. We were allocated an additional allotment of teacher fte (0.3) in early June to reduce class sizes in English Language Arts and Math in Division 1 (Gr. 1-3). After all the adjustments, Forestburg School will operate next year with 0.4 fte less than in 2025/2026. This has meant some reductions in our jr./sr. high end and requires that we combine some of our classes. While this is less than ideal, we are required to work with the amounts that are allocated to us by BRSD. As was previously announced, BRSD was required to cut $3.14 million dollars to balance their budget.

Thank you, as parents, for all you do to support your child’s learning. Thank you for your time, cooperation and assistance throughout the school year as active members of the learning team.
I would like to wish everyone the very best as we move into summer break. We have had a busy year and accomplished many great things. I hope everyone can find some time to relax and do some of the things they enjoy with family and friends. I am sure this time will pass quickly enough and before long, thoughts of school will be back on everyone’s mind. Have a great summer!

From the Classroom
Plant A Tree
On June 9th the 2026 Graduating Class participated in Plant-A-Tree Day. This annual event, hosted by Flagstaff County in partnership with local high schools, celebrates the accomplishments of graduating students by planting a tree in their community. The goal is to promote environmental sustainability, foster community pride, and create a lasting legacy. Each class receives a tree and commemorative plaque, serving as a symbolic reminder of their roots and connection to their hometown, something we hope they will visit and reflect on for years to come.
Michif Dancers
In June, Nicole from the Michif Dancers and Collective led engaging presentations for students in Kindergarten–Grade 3 and Grades 7–9. Students learned about Métis culture through exploring and practicing traditional Métis dances, including jigging. They also learned about the Métis sash, its history, and the significance of its colours.
Farm Safety
Forestburg School was excited to welcome Farm Safety presenters to students in Kindergarten to grade 6 this June. Through engaging, hands-on activities, students learned about machinery and grain safety, hearing protection, safe livestock interactions, and brain health, gaining valuable knowledge to help keep themselves and others safe on the farm and beyond.
Bike Safety
All of our Kindergarten to Grade 6 students brought their bikes to school in June and learned all about about bike safety!
Kindergarten Adventures in Camrose!
Our Kindergarten students enjoyed an exciting year-end trip to Camrose! For some, it was their very first ride on a school bus, making the day even more memorable. Students toured the kitchen at Boston Pizza, created and enjoyed their own personal pizzas, burned off some energy at Jubilee Park, and wrapped up the day with a fun game of bowling. Smiles, laughter, and great memories were shared by all!
Grade 1/2
On June 19, Mrs. Adams Class enjoyed a trip to the Tyrell Museum, The Big Dinosaur and the Little Church in Drumheller.
Breakfast Program
Our breakfast program just received a major boost! A huge thank you to Faye Hagel and Bretyn Anderson from Westland Insurance, who generously applied for a grant on our behalf and secured $1,000.00 for our school.
Because of your kindness and community spirit, we can continue providing healthy morning meals for our students. Thank you, Faye, Bretyn, and Westland Insurance, for supporting our students!
Art Club
Art Club ran this school year from November to end of May. We had a small crew but some beautiful art was still created.
Swimming at Forestburg Pool
Kindergarten through Grade 10 enjoyed time at the Forestburg this June!
