Welcome Back!
TMS Middle School Minute 8/15/25
Dear Talawanda Families,
The school year is off to a great start and we are excited for the opportunity to work with your students. We would like to thank our families for how smoothly drop off and pick up is going this year. The safety of our students and staff is a TMS priority.
This week we had grade level meetings where we discussed rules and expectations. One topic discussed was arrival and dismissal safety. Please remind your students to listen to the adults supervising drop off and pick up. Students should not be crossing the parking lot between cars. The adults will stop the cars to allow students to cross safely.
We will distribute Chromebooks the week of August 25th. Please remember that the Chromebook fee must be paid before your student will be allowed to bring their Chromebook home. Before your student logs in to their Chromebook, the Acceptable Use Policy Agreement in Final Forms must be signed. Take the time to complete this form so your child can begin using their device to complete school work. Remind your student to charge their device at home nightly and bring them fully charged to school the next day for learning.
Please remember that the doors open at 7:15 am and that school starts at 7:35 am. School dismissal is at 2:10 pm.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Dr. Theurer & Mr. Mann

School-wide Read Information!
This Monday, August 18 marks the beginning of the 17th annual School Wide Read Aloud! This year we will read Code Talker by Joseph Bruchac. During the week, we'll read a little bit in every period, and by the end of the week, we will finish the book!
In this historical fiction book, we’ll encounter some young men who have been taught in boarding school that Navajo is a useless language. However, Ned Begay and many other Navajo men are then recruited by the Marines to become Code Talkers, sending messages during World War II in their native tongue.
Stay tuned for more School Wide Read events coming up in September!
